Red has always been for Mario games specifically, both on Wii U and 3DS. They don't do it with very Mario game, but to my knowledge, they never do it with a non-Mario title. I'm probably wrong, though, and someone will find it, hah.

But Nintendo execs know that this is what people are expecting them to do - because it makes the most sense - THUS, they can't do this or they'll obviously see themselves not as 'INNOVATIVE'.

Kind of reminiscent of the PSP cases. But agree, red, or Nintendo Blue would have been a nice distinction.

Wonder if Nintendo is continuing with their environmental efforts by having less plastic used in each case like they started with the Wii.

I like clear as Nintendo artwork is colorful enough and a red box does not go with every cover art color. This also looks more mature. Sony blu ray color boxes make sense as everyone has blu ray collections they match.

i agree, colour cases look cheap and tacky. its better to have a neutral colour.

there is nothing worse than having a (say) resident evil game in a toy blue case. it ruins the package.

I quite liked the white wii ones. They could have made these cases much smaller too as the carts look NDS or vita sized. Vita or Ds sized cases would have been cool.

Nintendo was one of the first companies to have clean industry when producing their consoles, and were the first company to reduce the amount of plastic in their cases by 30%.

They claim to care about the environment, and have taken those steps to show it.

This is likely more about consumer perception. Smaller cases make it look like an inferior product, particularly since handheld cases have been smaller. I know it's silly, but it makes a difference, and gives Nintendo more presence on the store shelves.

The folks at Nintendo need to realize that It is 2017. Enough with the gimmicks. Please build a decent console that folks want to buy. I have four current generation consoles in my humble abode. I would love to add to that number. However, the brain trust at Nintendo pretty much squelched that (Deja vu again).

Those cases looks to be placeholders. So maybe those aren't the final color of the cases for the Switch. I'm hoping they go for that nice red.

Someone made a good point about game case sizes being too small. I hope they can do small sized ones like the 3DS covers...more games to show on the store shelves couldn't be a bad thing.

I'm using the PS4 Pro and while I don't feel any need to get another console, Project Scorpio might make me try it and have both consoles. Thing is I'm not especially interested in any Xbox exclusives at the moment, but I'm keeping an open mind.

Seems like a waste of plastic for a micro SD. They shrunk the width but they didn't bother with the tallness of it lol. Looks stupid imo.

Not a fan of the clear case, like many are saying it should of been red or damn even a grey to match the system. The clear to me gives it the whole "its a used game" aesthetic and they just stick the game art on the cover
