This stole the show.
Going into this generation I knew that Xbox Series X/S would never outsell the PlayStation 5. But the fact that it's selling worse than the Xbox One, that I would never have guessed.
Wolverine is going to set records.
If anything I would say that these sales figures and player counts may actually fast-track its PS5 port.
Funnily enough there are just about the same amount of people playing SOMA right now as there are people playing Hellblade 2.
But let's not look at concurrent numbers. Hi-Fi Rush placed 9th Place after a week of sales on Steam and only dropped to 12th Place a week later. That's pretty solid for its first two weeks. Hellblade 2 on the other hand is at #130 (and dropping) at the time of this writing and only after a week of sales. It's definitely not good.
And it's already slipped out of the Top 100 on Steam. Meanwhile a port of the 4-year old Ghost of Tsushima is sitting comfortably at #8.
If this game cost more and took longer to develop than Hi-Fi Rush, then I would worry if I were Ninja Theory. Projects may have been greenlit, but the increased scrutiny over at MS may very well put them on the chopping block. The incredible irony here is that it was PlayStation players that pushed the original game passed its 1 million copies sold milestone. With that purchasing power cut out, and the Game Pass effect having trained Xbox players to not purchase games, it seems that the seque...
And Alan Wake 2 and Alone in the Dark.
As long as the Crimson Heads are back.
Supports PS4 games...yet Sony doesn't release PS4 games. So I can play Helldivers 2 on my Steam Deck but not on this thing? Odd.
Since this article posted I've seen it jump from 83% to 86%. Not a very effective review bomb campaign, lol.
It's the blunders that set those expectations so high. If you remove those from the equation, I bet the sales numbers would be more than stellar. Square believes it's okay to release a pile of risky, middling, garbage because the big boys will ultimately subsidize the cost. Don't worry if Forspoken sells poorly, FF16 will surely sell 10 million copies to balance that right out. Oh wait, it only sold like 4 million. Well that's a disaster. Meanwhile games that sell 2 million un...
Then the headline should read "Square To Drop Exclusively Deals in Pursuit of A Sweeping Multiplatform Strategy". I don't recall this argument when Square Enix released Bravely Default, Octopath Traveler, and Triangle Strategy on one platform. And even if FF is the icon, not all of its titles have gone to one platform. We're talking about three games, one of which is already on PC. Did Square suddenly go 'multiplatform' after it released subsequent Tomb Raider sequel...
Square Enix been multiplatform for decades, a few exclusively-deals doesn't make them any less multiplatform.
For all the armchair executives who were calling for Sony to release its big-budget AAA games on PS+, the same exact thing would have happened at PlayStation. Game Pass has killed Xbox. Congrats.
Agreed. I'd love to know the budget on this one to be honest. What was it? 6-8 years in development?
oh be quiet, you goblin.
This is 100% due to Activision Blizzard. If that deal had not gone through, Xbox revenue would be flat, which means a game like Starfield failed to move the needle.
I don't get this notion. Do people really think that if MS hardware goes away, Sony is going to start selling $5,000 consoles and $250 games? And that their audience would just accept it?
We have Overwatch at home.
