They said they were looking into it, followed by only giving news about Extra, and then editing out the “free for all” message. You don’t think all of this wouldn’t give some reasonable doubt?

"so it's actually false advertising."

But, it isn't. There are probably 33.2 million pixels on the screen, which is what makes it an 8K television, not the ability to play 8K content. This links to the whole point being able to get closer to a larger size without seeing pixels, not giving people extremely detailed content.

"claims its 8k but actually still has the hdmi 2.0c connection and not the hdmi 2.1 "

From what I heard from the developers it will work like a Metroidvania. Some areas require later acquired powers to access.

@ PapaBop

It keeps coming up because there are some people who legitimately want it and because Fortnite made it a much larger issue, or at least for a week. The real issue is people keep giving them clicks.

@ Gamer7804

There will always be people who want this, just like I'm sure I can find countless people who would want universal cross-buy (buy it on X and get it for A, B and C). The real problem is most people picked their loyal...

This is really the issue. People like metrics, since it means more than literally anything said. No one remembers what any reviewer said about Spider-Man, just that it's an 87 on Metacritic. The other issue is finding a way to really fairly review something.

I've seen people suggest rubrics, but the problem with them are the same as school, which is they're pretty easy to cheat. I remember a while back I was running really low on time to finish my paper and didn...

"I firmly believe Fortnite wouldn't be really successful if they slapped a $30 price tag on it."

You don't need to believe that to see it is already true. The funny thing about Fortnite is it started as early access to a free-to-play game that was player versus enemy (Save the World) and did horrible. You can read old Reddit/N4G/etc comments and see it was a pretty bad game and was littered with issues, including a free grind that took literal years and ma...

I'm not disagreeing with you. Even bots could've helped make the game more enjoyable, since they'd simply fill rooms, but my point is just that the choice and my comment make sense in relation to the game itself.

Yes, but it was also only an online multiplayer game, so they'd either have to do free weekends, which is the same basic problem, possibly create a special version of the game that either only worked offline (costly) and/or figure out a way for someone to download the game and be able to play for like an hour.

I'm not saying it can't be done but it's hard to complain about a online multiplayer game not having a perpetual demo, especially when they had enoug...

It had multiple open betas, so people certainly had a chance to try it.

"This is a great point of entry for those that don't have the cash to pay upfront for a new console and new games."

Yes but they're also not wrong. Like, this is literally no different than doing something like using a credit card that offers financing (Like, Best Buy will give you 12 months zero interest). The only real difference here is that it might not require a credit check, but it's basically a way to force people into services in the hope they ...

"It’s actually kind of crazy. "

It really is, unless you mean doing it is crazy, then I'll agree.

While I can understand the logic if there is no credit check (with that it wouldn't really be any different than a place that offers 24-months financing and even without that you can get a cheaper version from Best Buy for a year), it's undoubtedly better to just wait for sales on things, assuming you can pay it off/can't finance. The great thing about the controversy is, regardless of what happened, it only helped Dead Cells.

Here is the thing. While I get where you're coming from, as I've seen a fair amount of witch hunting/demonizing -a great example being someone calling attention to IGN saying almost every level having a timed door and pointing out it's actually only around half-, there are too many similar things.

Like, even if we consider structure a coincidence and similar experiences, the two reviews read less like two separate experiences and more like an editor rewrote the...

To be fair, some of these complaints are only true about Battle Royale.

Like, there is a story in Save the World. I believe it's unfinished (it's really long because of the free-to-play mechanics), but it's essentially about figuring out what caused the storm and how to stop it. The combat system is also a lot more varied in Save the World. However, a lot of the flaws to Save the World should also count against Fortnite, such as charging for early access to a f...

"Plus I can lend physical games to friends!"

Yes, but literally everything about the Fortnite physical version is inferior to the digital counterpart. I mean, it's literally free, who cares if I can hand it off?

That being said, I'd argue Limited Run games sell because people like the i...

I don't know what to say, but even Fortnite's literal own FAQ says you need it.

Yes. You do need Xbox Live Gold in order to play Fortnite Battle Royale on Xbox.
Do I need PlayStation Plus to play Fortnite Battle Royale?

"Have you ever looked up the definition of "authoritarian"? Here, I did that for you: "

Okay, first off, developers likely want all kinds of things Sony/M$/Nintendo don't, so why bother singling one out? Not like Epic is likely super cool with Microsoft forcing people to have gold to play or want to use Nintendo's application, yet they're stuck.

"Developers want to enable cross-play"

Also, it...

Why is this even an opinion piece?

While I guess you can say Sony is responsible for bringing them together, a lot of it has to do with them both standing to gain something, a fact that wasn't true in the past. The Switch is the only real console where there is enough of an overlap for a company to team up with them (Wii U and those before it didn't have many big third party titles to really bother) and the different demographics make it easy for both sides to work...

I guess that is a fair one, but I think that is a much different opinion piece. Less length and more questioning the costs that go into development.

For example, look at Destiny. I don't know how many people would insist we have famous actors doing voices, yet they went that route and need to make up the cash. Another great example of the opposite is Disgaea, which uses random generation and existing assets to make countless hours of content.

I mean...
