Amazing games... Better value than either games with gold or PS plus and it's actually free?!?

1474d ago
Lennoxb631474d ago

To be fair, EGS is just starting to give away games. So they’d have larger selection to choose from than gold and plus who’ve already given away some of these games.

Docmortem1474d ago

@Lennoxb63 Gold and Plus don't give anything away for free. You pay monthly for the right to access those games. EGS gives away games for free and to keep every week for 1 year now.

crazyCoconuts1474d ago

It is quite amazing. The one benefit I guess from them making money hand over fist with Fortnite. They really want to buy the love of us Steam users...

Does their store have reviews yet?

Wetpapertowel1475d ago

Not yet. But have you heard of IGN? They do reviews.

Sephiroushin1475d ago

But those are paid from journalist that know shit; dont believe those ign reviews!

xTonyMontana1475d ago

User reviews can be the best though, seeing someone post their thoughts after 500+ logged hours lends a lot of credit to their reviews.

MadLad1475d ago

The Epic Store. The store so featureless, they bribe you to use it.

Fishy Fingers1475d ago

Download, add to steam, use steam features.

I'm happy to take the "bribes".

phoenixwing1475d ago

since when did features become more important than a video game?

MadLad1475d ago (Edited 1475d ago )

They came into the market using Fortnite money, and only offered a crap store, and justify it by buying exclusivity in what has always been an open and fair market on PC. I'm highly positive that this pro-developer narrative they push will end if they ever gain a large chunk of the market.

I hate what Epic is doing because it's the same corporatist BS I have been rallying against for years. We don't offer a good product, so just buy up the market until we control it.

FanboyPolice1475d ago

Gamers have the wrong priorities.

Is not about games anymore is all about favorite stores or favorite consoles or or faster ssd or more teraflops.

I honestly dont get it

xTonyMontana1475d ago

Ask everyone and anyone complaining about Switch online and comparing it to PSN.

MadLad1475d ago

Something used to get people to download it. Its popularity lies solely on free games, or big titles they buy exclusivity to. The terminology may be slightly exaggerated, but slightly being the proper word.

porkChop1475d ago

So you choose store features over actual games? That's just sad.

MajorLazer1475d ago

Incentive is the word you're looking for, not bribe.

RazzerRedux1475d ago

Ted Cruz is smarter than you.

I supported steam more than anyone in the past but the whole platform became trash long ago. Why are people rabidly defending a greedy corporation like Valve? They got lazy as soon as they had a monopoly on the digital PC market; they ignored their fans and stopped making games and now even the steam summer/winter/whatever sales aren't as good. And please stop acting like Steam reviews are sooooo important when there are thousands and thousands of critic and user reviews for every single game on the epic store all over the internet.

Steam takes 70 percent of revenue from the developers for every game they list on their store, and epic takes 30. Whatever their reasons for doing it it's better business for developers and the free games Epic gives away are just a bonus for anyone who wants them. I guess it's better to stay loyal to a greedy corporate mope like gabe newell who chooses not to make left for dead 3 or half life 3 for over ten years because he's just too busy counting his money.

MadLad1475d ago

But they never locked exclusivity out from other stores. Their exclusives, ever had, were games they had actual funding behind.
They didnt say "hey, we're filthy rich, let's strong arm this otherwise open market".
I hate their business practice, and the fact they tied it to such a weak store, where almost every other one in existence offers either something better, or something entirely unique.

RazzerRedux1474d ago (Edited 1474d ago )

Strong arm? That's bullshit. No one is forcing these games on to EGS. It is a voluntary decision by the publisher/developer. The market is still very much open and the fact that these deals can happen are proof. If this were not an open market then something would prevent these companies from having the freedom to make these decisions.

And how is exclusivity for PC stores any different than exclusivity between consoles?

jeromeface1474d ago

@razzerredux you buy hardware to commit to consoles, major difference.

RazzerRedux1474d ago

@jeromeface

No, third party exclusives are obtained by console manufacturer's to entice gamers to buy their console. A store obtaining an exclusive for the same reason is no different.

Stanjara1475d ago

Actually, Steam takes 30% and Epic takes 12, and if your game uses Unreal engine than it additional - 5%.
They give money for timed exclusivity, which is great for indie, and they take less than Valve, witch is great for big sellers.
Valve did nothing to improve, while Epic is giving free games.

jeromeface1474d ago

The sales aren't "as good" because you already own everything you want... lol. Everyone crys because they just buy games now instead of actually playing them.

Machina1474d ago

EGS will do exactly the same if it ever manages to achieve market dominance.

i didnt even know there was a leak ha.

Relientk7713h ago

This is news to me. I had no idea the games from the State of Play got leaked.

Jin_Sakai5h ago

I seen the list posted and instantly got excited for Astro Bot. Everything else was meh.

CrimsonWing695h ago

I’m pretty sure leaks or not, by the end of the show people will still be disappointed. The only highlight for me was MH: Wilds… everything else was mid to forgettable. Hope them HaaS games you got lined up really work out for you, Sony. Everyone asking for Bloodborne Remake, Wolverine, and, uh, well other games like that could’ve made this epic. Instead we get Concord, some derivative Souls-like games, that were fine looking, and a Silent Hill 2 Remake with horrible character designs and janky combat animations… great.

rayford155h ago

I wasn’t disappointed it was a solid B

TOTSUKO2h ago

For a State of play it was actually alright. People are overshadowing it because they want to cancel Sony to high hell for Gaas which is not fair for the other devs who revealed great looking games that were just shown. I get it you don’t like gaas don’t buy it. If it sells well good for the people who had interest no big deal? If you are a PlayStation fan what’s wrong with PlayStation trying to cater every gamer? I don’t understand that smh

ravens524h ago

Where Winds Meet and Ballad of Antara both looked good. Not to mention Astro Bot. It was a decent show. For me personally it was a 7. I'm sure to some people it was actually really good cause they'd play all those games. 🤷🏽 Personal taste

MrNinosan2h ago

I wasn't dissapointed.
And no, everyone doesn't want a Bloodborne Remake. There is probably very few who's actually asking for it, but the ones who do are loud on internet.

CrimsonWing692h ago(Edited 2h ago)

Oh, my mistake. It’s definitely not one of the most requested games when it comes to remakes with news stories talking about it 🙄

Silly me. It’s just a very few that are actually wanting it…
