Toys R Us also spills its beans ad shows Xbox $50 price drop

Well, CheapyD, who runs CheapAssGamer, is convinced about the $50 price drop coming to the Xbox 360 in August. Following yesterday's leaked "Wal-Mart" ad, today the crew at CAG dug up this Toys R Us ad for the week beginning Sunday, Aug. 12. The image taken by UgamerX is still really hard to make out and was probably taken on the sly, but the picture, in the largest size available, does seem to show toward the right side a "Valid Monday 8/13/07 ..."

I would personally get the Core over the wii, cuz I'm bored with my Wii and I want DEAD RISING really bad. Other than GOW and Dead Rising, I see no purpose to not just cough up more for an Elite or PS3.

I think at $250 the 360 is an excellent deal. I think it could give Wii purchasers a lot to think about.

With Halo 3 on the horizon I think this will be a great Holiday season for 360.

Pricepoint can make or break a console. Just compare Wii sales to PS3 sales.

R:FOM has incredible multi-player, as I'm sure you've heard. they didn't have enough time to get the graphics down or the "flawless cutscenes", but they did great with what they had. It's not an upset in the least bit!

The Wii actually has a flash-drive built-in, but it's not a large amount. With the Core, you're literally getting NOTHING. The Wii's SD cards can store music and stuff, but it's only used on certain games, like Excite Truck. Nintendo didn't think it through too well...but people buy the frickin thing anyway.

I plan on buying my six year old brother a core system for christmas, and he doesn't need to download trailers and demos. So he wont be needing a hard drive. MS wants to become nr. 1 this gen and will do ANYTHING to reach that spot.

Core will be set against the Wii. Not only in price, but you'll see soon they'll get the vision cam in there to have the Wiimote fun factor and the Scene It controller also to get that simple fun for kids, grandparents etc.

Premium will be a steal for 349 this fall, Halo 3 coming, Bioshock soonish, GTA IV the most complete version. My god. It will totally repeat last Christmas and get over it to sell the most systems over the PS3 for sure. No doubt about it.

The premium for those dudes that always want stuff like HDMI and the largest HDD around. Not that it matters, because the games look just as good on the normal Premium.

Meh, 5 is too easy.

1. More powerful hardware, obviously.

2. HD output. Yes I know that Xbox did 720p, but only a handfull of games used it, lame ones at that.

3. Much improved Live service with greater and better integrated community features.

4. Achievements and gamerscore. Yes PS3 fanboys may knock it, but I couldn't imagine an online network without now.

5. Greater variety of games, including more RPG and RTS games. Support from PC developers is a big plus for me with games like World in Conflict and Civilization coming to 360.

6. Improved controller, finally doing away with the awkward white and black buttons.

7. Smarter, sleeker appearance. Personally couldn't give a crap how it looks but what the hell.

8. Secured against pirates and cheating gits. Well, online at least.

9. Quaterly dashboard updates introducing new features.

10. Streaming media capabilities with any Windows Media Center or Media Player 11 based PC.

And i'm sure I could think of more.

Now I challenge you to give 10 reasons why the PS3 is better than the PS2. Fair is fair.

not to get in the middle of anything i do believe the 360 owns the original xbox but its easy to name how the ps3 owns ps2

1. it is a ps2 with upscaling on games or movies
2. much better online, home looks somewhat promising and will have achievements
3. comes with wifi (personally i think this is underestimated wifi causes a lot less of a hastle)
obvious ones
4. graphics
5. blu-ray (by far the biggest and best difference in my opinion)
6. internet (a crappy computer) but it can be used as one
7. media sharing, ps3 is basically a media console
8. motion control (although it lost rumble... temporarily)
9. connects to PSP from anywhere in the world
10. has hdmi(1.3) with top of the line audio output

Im sure ppl can name many others but the ps2 was amazing and the ps3 is ps2 x 10 ... just need a little while longer for some games, but the hardware itself is impressive

Yeah I pay for my online and i don't care its a mild inconvienience That goes on the credit card bill once a year and i never see it again. Yes We could use dedicated servers but the only really good multiplayer game that has a lot of lag is Rainbow six and that has dedicated servers.

Honestly how much hard disk space have you used up on your PS3 you probably use around 10 GB max for a couple of demos and videos 20 GBs is fine as long as you deleate the demos you don't play any more.

I saw your HDD comment...I've already used up 30 gigs on my HD...I put music, movies and other media on my PS3 that I play on my entertainment center (Sometimes watching movies on the computer isn't ideal...)

I see where your coming from, but I think most 360 owners store their content on PC and stream it to the 360. Though it's possible to play directly from disk if necessary. Except for DivX content that is, which needs to be transcoded to WMV and is best done on the fly.

Did it occur to u maybe that the ps3 isnt forcing wifi but putting it in their system for free, which i believe is the right thing to do because it is a next generation system... id rather something for free and givin to me then to have the choice and end up buying a wifi adapter ... anyway i just hook up my laptop to my xbox which is a nice little run around but still i dont need a pelican to silence my ps3 and i dont need a intercooler to save it either from getting overheated, all the stuff thaat u have extra for the 360 should come with it not have to be bought and from wat u consider to be a "choice"

I wouldn't think that such adds would have been to the presses this far in advanced. Any way a price drop by MS, while important, at only 50 bucks is probably not substantial enough to improve overall sales. A 100 bucks across the board, yes. 50 bucks, no. Realiability issues are really starting to stall the progress of the 360. With all the games it has, the 360 should be selling better. A 50 dollar price drop is not enough.
