Five Xbox 360 Games to Own E3

Things are looking up for Microsoft's console. After a fairly tepid 2009, many had predicted that the Xbox 360 had peaked, but with a line-up this strong, plus Project Natal, it's looking like Microsoft's year.

I guess Halo: Reach is made-up. Gears 3 was never revealed on Jimmy Fallon. And that game the ps3 fanboys were bashing because a forum says it was "547p" (which is not true) wasn't real.

MS needs to announce some new IPs though. As great as Gears, Fable, and Halo is I'd like to see something fresh.

Fable III? I'll have to wait and see. I wasn't very impressed with the others. It needs a major overhaul in the graphics and it needs to be deeper as an RPG. The simplicity of Fable II was boring to me.

Crackdown 2? Loved the first one but this looks like Crackdown 1.5. Good but will it offer enough to call it a true sequel?

X-COM? One of my favorite games ever was UFO Defense. Amazing game. Hopefully they can keep that intensity and not just make a FPS out of the IP.

Gears of War 3? Not very hyped about it. I find the series to be much like the Transformers movies. Lots of flash and noise but not much substance.

I hope we get to see a new Project Gotham racer. I also want to see something exceptional from Rare.

Well I think it's clear that 360 owners (in general)are into their shooters. I don't see how that's a bad thing though, not particularly a good thing either. It just is, what it is. I'm more of an RPG person myself though.

Shooters are great, as long as they vary.
Halo is a classical shooter, while Gears is a TPS that is mostly about covering.
X-Com i supposed to be a tactical shooter like rainbow six, but in the xcom universe instead.

Plenty of variety, keeps the genre fresh and interesting.
Thats why Xbox fans are not so high on Killzone 2 and Resistance, to us those are just games that play like halo, and we already got a halo.

One quote was found that the 360 is a shooter's console not based on the games... only but based on the controller, too. But most of the games such as Halo and Gears (shooters) are what has been selling best on the 360 console. Put halo and gears on the ps3 and it won't sell as much, imo because 360 is the preferred console for shooters. Just Look at the numbers.

The 360 may be a console that shooter fans prefer the most, and it may also have more shooter games than PS3, but the 360 has as diverse a gaming library as the PS3 does.

So, the 360 is any console the owner wants it to be. I have played more RPGs on my 360 than shooters, and so I don't consider the 360 just a shooter console.

There are plenty of JRPGs on the 360, plenty of WRPGs, plenty of racing games like Burnout and Forza, plenty of XBLXA games and more on the way. It's an insult to Microsoft's efforts to still call the 360 just a shooter console.

GTA/Crackdown are sandbox shooters. You explore and you shoot things. Doesn't matter if perspective is 1st 3rd or overhead, the main game style is shooting things.

This applies to UC2, KZ2 and Resistance. The thing is that the PS3 is known for LBP, GOW and Demon's Souls. In other words its known for things other than games where you shoot things.

You are 100% wrong. All of those games you highlighted are niche games to the large majority of Xbox/360 gamers. They barely sold any copies in relation to the shooter games. They were mostly less than well received for one reason or many others. If you ask a person that does not frequent gaming forums but plays video games (trust me. millions of people fall under that category) they will more than likely not know 90% of those games. And if they know of them, they don't care about them.

I'm not saying that the 360 has only shooters. I was pointing out that while there are obviously games not of the shooter variety on the 360, the 360 is known most for the shooters. The best known games on the 360 are Halo and Gears of War. The games you listed are not known by most of the general public.

Halo and Gears will surely be MS talk of E3 idk about rest. Crackdown lets be serious every1 who bought crackdown was only because it had halo3 beta in it and only way this 1 will do good if they put the reach beta in it. I remember when it came out and I had friends who bought the game but didnt even play it and just waited for halo beta to unlock. Id be curious about the XCom thing though and fable3 should be ok.

Sony I think have much more to show though Rockstars game Socom4 GT5 a couple MMOs FF13 versus Twisted Metal w/e Insomniac is cooking, The last guardian and if we will get a KZ3 teaser is still to be unknown.

I think GT5 will own and follow Reach.

GT5 is big among PS gamers and Halo is big among Xbox gamers.

So, it think GT5 will own all the games in 2010 if the game come out in 2010 if not than Reach will own 2010 qua sell nummbers.

GT doesnt sell as fast as Halo does.
GT got long legs, has a nice start, and then continues to sell steadily (based on sales from previous GT's).
Halo on the other hand, sells 60% of its total sales in the first couple of weeks.

Dont forget that Halo 3 moved millions on day one.

Right now there are about 5 XBLA games on my radar along with huge games like Reach, Fable3, Crackdown2(which looks awesome), GEOW3 and Xcom. Something tells me MS is about to announce many more games at E3 and surprise many with there lineup.

they will change the controls. i know some ppl like it, but that was that game's biggest draw back. i'm sure the online kz2 community woulda been much bigger if the controls were more solid.

what they could do (but probably won't) is offer both options. revamped controls or old ones.

I tell you what i hope kz3 does better...environment interaction. i know some scripted areas had things that would break when you hit them, but i'd really like to see something more dynamic.

oh, and i predict that sony will feel like they need to bring out something bigger for e3, and i have this feeling they are going to jump the gun on the uncharted 3 announcement.

Don't forget, Rare has 4 projects incoming as well as Spawnpoint, a new studio formed not too long ago. Also, Itagaki San is back with a new game that might show up at E3.

There will be great gaming announcement at E3. I expectanother game or two will be added to the Fall lineup with Reach and Fable.

I agree with Gillri though. I'm not saying one is going to be better, but Halo Reach will be out sooner and if people like whats in the beta, which they probable will, people will be going nuts. Plus I'm sure they will have Reach at E3 to play. I also think that Reach will sell better and come on, Halo = Xbox. Its not a bad thing by any means and its not like the other games are small and insignificant, but it is in my opinion, the biggest franchise on the 360 is halo.

I have no idea what else MS could announce, a new PGR game, and a Rare game, but i have lost faith in Rare so meh to them. I reckon MS have played there cards on the table and will show of all footage for their games this year and make a few small anouncemets like their usual DLC crap and the like. MS already has me sold on the console this christmas they just need to price drop and i will get one ASAP

While i reckon Sony will have a SC/ME announcement at E3. As well as a the possibilites of heaps of franchises. All they need for me to be happy is a GT5 release date and Starhawk (warhawk 2) and i am over the moon haha.

sirus you are underestimating MS then. E3 changed last year so expect unannounced games from MS. They already said it themselves in a recent podcast. Also there is plenty of potential franchises that can be revealed. Conker,killer instinct,PD2,PGR 5,Bungie's next game,etc

I couldn't care less about a concor game, PGR might be decent but idk what happened to that series, never played a killer instinct title who are they made by? And there are many rumours saying the next bungie game is mulitplatform. Last years E3 was utter crap from MS, what did they announce that was interesting at the time? Nothing utter crap, like almost all their exclusives last year, nothing was good about last year. Very lack luster, and this year at E3 will be better but it will be less announcement more shocks through gameplay and videos . They will announce heaps of natal games which are all unnanounced thats what they are refering to i reckon.

Again i think MS is going to have a great year but i do beleive they don't have much left to announce in the hardcore front. All i want is a price drop on the PRO and i will be super happy.

last year was great for MS. pretty much everyone from the press agreed that MS won it. there was 4-6 titles that we didn't know about. Also Bungie will never go multiplatform,MS has first refusal to every game they make and Bungie knows their fanbase. Most of sony franchises have no identity so i am not interested in the majority of their franchises. MS has more ips that interest me and i think we will see some more at this years E3.

It's not the most expected games that would own E3. In fact, it's usually those "secret" or under-hyped products. Uncharted 2 is a perfect example, before E3, I barely hear anyone giving this game as much as a whiff. Usually the previous fans are the ones expecting the game but never in their life would it turn out to be one of the most visual and cinematic experiences in gaming history.
