Hamsterfist.com comes up with the Top Ten reasons to own a 360. What did they miss? Tomorrow will be the Top Ten reasons to own a PS3 and Friday will be the Wii. Hey, no fan-boys over at Hamsterfist. Everyone is welcome there!

This list is terrible, most of these things are generic. And every other console has em. Twitter / Facebook can be accessed by both the Wii and the Ps3. Both of them also can stream Media from PC. As for Natel, that is not a PROVEN positive, so it shouldn't be included.

Ok, so I am standing in my local game store on my lunch earlier today, paying on some pre-ordered games. There is an old couple in front of me buying a 360, during the course of the conversation the grandma starts talking about how her grandson has 2 360s at the house, both broken.

So why in the hell are they spending more money on a third broke ass POS???

There is only one real answer as far as I am concerned. The general consumer is straight f'in retarded. If you are reading this and you fall into this category of people and you took offense to this, -GOOD-

Look, I don't care if I'm little (lets say) Timmy's Grandparents, parents, aunt, uncle, cousin or what ever, dishing out my money on something that is known to break, even better you know damn good and well is going to break because there are already 2 at the house broken is not going to happen.

The best reason to own a 360 is really just to play games. Who cares about facebook, twitter and all that extra junk. Isn't that what 360 owners has been clamoring about since it launched? "I bought a 360 to play games, not to watch movies!"

The same cant be said about the PS3... BECAUSE the best reason to own a PS3 is for the games and blu-ray player. At least for me.

@1.3: You don't own a 360 connected to Media Center it is a lot more than just a stream your media from a PC. One of the biggest being it's a PVR/DVR and I have access to all live TV. Neither of the systems allow me to do this being in the USA.

However the main reason I would buy a 360 is the games, there are a great number of good games on the 360. Plus the install base is so big you know that its not gonna get overlooked by developers.

I would consider getting one too, if I knew someone who's 360 hadn't broken.

I will, thank you. And you just keep getting butt raped by microsoft and keep buying those 360 like crazy, so they will fail in the next week / month / year, and then you can buy a new one. 10. Controllers - Sure it's a preference but when you look past that the PS3 controller is clearly better. No need to buy batteries and it recharges faster than the 360's plug & play kit.

9. Price - even before the PS3 Slim the 360 isn't cheaper unless all you want is a basic experience otherwise you'll have to spend a ton of money on accessories as well as an extra $150 for WiFi and the ability to play online.

8. Media Center - Can be done on the PS3

7. Twitter/Facebook - I don't see why these are in the top reasons to own a console at all but even then PS3 has a web browser and can still access both sites just fine.

6. Project Natal - Likely to be dropped just like the Xbox Vision Camera support which they said they would support yet the only games that supported it (that I know of) is Totemball and a Raving Rabbids port not to mention the PS3 will also have motion control which is more accurate (no need for pretzel looking avatars) and this has been done before with the EyeToy last gen so it's nothing special (also see EyePet)

5. Achievements/Awards - Trophies/Awards Trophies can't be hacked like achievements and the awards are much more than just shirts.

4. Netflix - PS3 has a web browser and there are plenty of sites that stream movies and such if you want to watch them (plus they are free).

3. Install Base - Doesn't matter (Wii has a bigger install base but even PS3 has the better games; I'm not saying the Wii doesn't have games but it just doesn't have as many AAA exclusives as the PS3)

2. Live - PSN doesn't cost $50 a year (it's free), you don't have to worry about laggy P2P servers (as most games have dedicated servers), you don't have to choose between paying a fee (having XBL Gold) or waiting a week (XBL Silver) to download things such as demos.

1. The Games - Clearly this a reason why you wouldn't want to own a 360 as it really has no games and the games that it calls "exclusives" can often be found on the PC. PS3 has more exclusives and they are higher rated compared to the 360.

I bought mine for the superior multiplats, and the exclusives. I know a lot of the 'exclusives' are available on the PC, but I prefer to play them on a big screen TV, sitting on a couch. Also, the 360 controller is one of the best.

Seriously though, the 360 controller isn't all that great besides it's bigger size for people with bigger hands. But the D-pad sucks balls, and the center dead zone isn't as responsive.

However that being said, I do like the 360's triggers and analog sticks with grooves in it. I hate the round stubs on the PS3 and it's flimsy triggers.

the worst thing was that i got it during launch stayed outside bestbuy so i could get one, and i ended getting the core console n buying the HDD seperate so it was hell of expensive, i didn't do anything to them just plugged them in

yea, you know that reason sucks. Here, I'll tell you my reason to own a 360: games. Although I bash the 360 constantly no one can really deny that their were some good games a few years ago. Sure the 360 hasn't gotten anything good in two years, but the games that came before it were good so I bought one. The other reasons suck and like I said above most can be gotten on the PS3 or PC. If you want the best exclusives and all the great multiplats along with the best value then the PS3 is truly the only way to go.

I do own both. My PS3 is for fighters and exclusives and my 360 is for racers and shooters. The PS3 does have it for some games but the 360 has it for all of it's games. The 360 is not my favorite system but custom soundtracks is my favorite feature. I also prefer the controller but not that horrid d-pad. Hence, the aforementioned racers and shooters genre selects.

It's always, always, always all about the games. Everyone is entitled to have an opinion and to speak their voice I believe, but I think deep down both sides are looking at the other side in terms of exclusives like Mass Effect, Uncharted, Gears, Resistance, Splinter Cell, Metal Gear solid (sans sequel numbers) and know that there's a respectable library on each console.

Why can't we have a forum where its about great gaming, not about fanboys. I love my 360, I went msoft way back with the xbox. My ps1 died twice, so I got a dreamcast, then when they stopped making games I bought an xbox. I also got to do a consumer servey and they put the xbox controler in my hand and asked questions about it, this is way before it came out and I didn't even know it existed. So anyway, I got a 360 launch, stayed out all night at a best buy, played cards drank beer and smoked cigars with 3 other buddys that were out there. I bought my ps3 in january and love it as well. Oh and I had 1 rrod but had the waranty from best buy and just swapped it. Both systems have great games, you can't deny that. Both have pros and cons, although you wont find a fanboy on either side that admits it. I have been gaming since my Magnovox odyssey. Had an atari 2600, a colecovision, intelivision, Adam computer, Amiga, Nes, genesis, ps1, dreamcast, n64, xbox, 360 and now a ps3 and a wii. Lets just sit back and enjoy how great gaming is today. Grow up young fellas and act your iq not your age.

Because maybe the PS fan base isn't made up of people who like only the same games over and over. The strength of the Playstation has never been one or two games, unlike the Xbox. Even after all this time and all the franchises MS "stole" the 360 is still just a Halo and Gears player. Not something to be proud of.

In that case, lets look at some of your other arguements.

I'm so sick & tired of fanboys bringing up the 360's RROD issues when the PS3 has it's own YLOD issues that Sony just ignores.
Recently I was browsing through the PSN forums, (Playstation3 General) & noticed, that there's alot of people having problems with their PS3's! Not just YLOD issues but, disk reading errors, sudden system freezes, disks that wont eject, PS3's randomly beeping, hard drive issues("Can not start, hard disk not found."), games not displaying properly.. etc..etc.. & on top of all this - there are people having issues with multiple consoles, in particular, the YLOD issue! go figure.. while freezing was another more common repeat offender but, not as common as the YLOD issue.
I don't want people to get the wrong idea here, I'm not downing the PS3, I'm just merely pointing out a fact - if it's electronic.. it's goin to break, & Sony's not above this. I plan on buying a PS3 Slim or, whatever revised version of the PS3 that Sony will be comming out with soon, & I'm very excited about it. I'm also looking forward to taking full advantage of the PS3's features & some of it's cutting edge exclusive games aswel.

10. I love the 360 controller greatly over the PS3 controller....just like the feel of it better....but all about personal preference to be honest...they both do the job well

The console is obviously cheaper and to me it's not that big of a deal to have an ethernet cord that I already owned instead of WiFi (which by the way, isn't the most reliable to game off of unless you it's very fast) and as far as Live, I have no problem paying 50 bucks a year for it...never a second thought to renew

8. I don't really use the Media center part since I own a Mac and I just put the DVD in and whatnot to watch a movie so neither one sways me here.....I won't buy Blu-rays until they're 20 dollars or less and about the same price as DVDs....just doesn't interest me

7. Meh, don't care...I've got a computer that can do all that (if I even wanted to)

1. Isn't this why we buy a specific system? You're not gonna buy a PS3 or 360 because of Facebook, internet browsers, etc...you're gonna buy it because their respective games interest you. Hence, it's all about preference. I prefer to play a majority of the 360 exclusive games and therefore I have a 360. If GOW wasn't the only PS3 game I wanted to play, I might get a PS3 but it's not worth 300-400 dollars for me to play one game

Personally, I think people are slightly childish about this whole thing of who's the better system? You think your respective system is better because you enjoy the games more. Games are the root of a video game system and therefore cause the root feelings you have towards that system.

I would love to have some intelligent conversation if anyone is confused about what I typed here or just wants to agree or disagree (but please leave a reason...hate people who can't even defend their own position)

these are my main reasons imo. its CHEAPER,the ONLINE is far superior,MULTI PLATFORMS which are the vast majority of games released each year, perform better both in graphics and framerates etc compared to sonys machine.you also dont have to WAIT "5 years" for exclusives promised like with the ps3"s.

Well the only good reason he has is the first one. You should own a 360 to play games. Now I don't know why everyone keeps thinking that the $199 console is cheap when it isn't. So can we PLEASE stop using this excuse because when it comes down to it the 360 $199 console is not cheap when you need other things to play it. I own both consoles, but I really like my PS3 much better. This article was incredibly lame and poorly written. My feedback to his bulletpoints -

10. CONTROLLER - this is strictly subjective. I personally hate how bulky and heavy the 360 controller is and it's D pad sucks. But again, this point is strictly a matter of personal preference.
9. PRICE - This is such fool's gold. The VALUE of these prices suck. I hate when people use the $199 Arcade price point as if it's some kind of positive. The arcade console is a freaking hard-driveless stripped down joke. Microsoft gets you in the door at a cheaper entry price, then totally screws you with the most expensive peripherals, monopolized hard drive upgrade prices that are a JOKE, and did I mention that you have to pay for Xbox Live??? All this, and the 360 is still just a DVD player at the end of the day!
8. TWITTER/FACEBOOK - I'll take PS3's high quality web browser over this feature any day. I can go to Twitter/Facebook on my PS3, and other website I want for that matter!
7. MEDIA CENTER - The 360 is just a DVD player. I'll take my Blu Ray player, thanks. I'll also take my fully functional web browser and use of the PSN video store without having to pay a subscription!
6. NATAL - Are you serious? This hasn't even come out yet... no way to quantify how good this will really be yet.
5. ACHIEVEMENTS - Microsoft deserves credit for being the first to do this. HOwever, I personally like the PSN trophies better because there are more then just points to accumulate. I love the multi-tiered value system of the trophies; there is nothing cooler then pulling down a platinum trophy, for example.
4. NETFLIX - Why does everyone jet so stoked about the 360 having this?? You have to pay a subscription to use this! THe PSN video store is excellent, and there's no subscription cost!
3. INSTALL BASE - Xbox Live has a nice following, can't argue that. THe PSN has come a very long way since it's inception and now has a great install base as well.
2. XBOX LIVE - The only thing Xbox Live has over PSN is the cross game voice chat. PSN offers everything else that Live does. Is having cross game voice chat worth an extra $50 a year?
1. GAMES - This is another point that is strictly subjective. The 360 has some great games. The PS3 has great games. All a matter of which ones you like. For me personally, the only 360 exclusives I really like are Gears of War and Crackdown (I'm not a Halo fan). I have been LOVING games on the PS3 like Uncharted, Little Big Planet, Infamous, Heavenly Sword, etc, etc. And oh by the way, God of War 3 is coming...

It's Live feature is the best anywhere. The fact that ALL my friends are on there and i keep meeting more is fantastic.

To be honest ladies and gentleman I do not see what the big deal is anyway. I own and run a videogame store and I am subjected to this debate everyday. It just seems as though we are all on the playground again arguing over why blue is better than read. It appears that we as gamers can only get along if we know that we have a posse behind us and once we chose a side it is all about separating the house. A divided house will not stand, with that said the better option is to buy all the systems and find the pros about each and for what a system lacks try to compensate for it through the other systems.

like I said before, If it's electronic it will break! & this little rant is not directed at everyone, just the obvious trolls in this thread that continue to say things like, "yeah, I'd really like to get a 360 but, too bad it's really loud & unreliable" I'd like to say.. Have you guys been in the PS3 forums lately? because it's just littered with people having all sorts problems with their PS3's! (see my previous post in this thread) I guess the real disturbing thing about it all is that, hardcore fanboys are running around from thread to thread doing almost unbelievable damage control! blaming them for the failure of their console, calling them liars or just flaming. I remember when MS claimed that their failure rate was only 3%! which turned out to be something like a whopping 90% later on down the road. Anyway, with a couple of quick class action law suits, MS fessed up, paid out, & restructured their warranty program by extending them for 3 years from date of purchase. failure rates for newer models are now alot more reasonable & everyone seems a little more happy.;)

Sony is now going down the same road. They claim that their system
failure rates are something minuscule like .02% but, i suspect.. that they are somewhere around 40% because, Goggling "PS3 YLOD" seems to bring up a crazy amount of hits. & thats only the YLOD issue, I haven't goggled any of the other broken PS3 issues yet. Combine this with the consistent almost flood of angered PSN forum goers with broken PS3's, (alot of them on their 3rd or 4th system) & the situation starts to look very familiar.. not funny at all. :cry:

Big corporations like Sony/Microsoft should be held accountable for their actions. we should't sit on out asses & defend these crooks while they nickel & dime us for repairs, (Sony about $149.00 for repair on PS3 about $180-$190 CDN) absolutely ridicules! :roll:
