Not that I care, I happened to be playing Alien Hominid last night when XBL crashed. I don't know if you guys understand, but this was a MAJOR ENTERPRISE-WIDE outage of XBOX LIVE. When this happens in the IT world, somebody's job is in immediate Jeopardy! This was not a planned/scheduled outage... so believe me, this is/was a big deal and somebody's head is rolling right now.

Especially since sites like N4G and others make it a big deal to report this as news. I know PSN has had a few past issues, but I never recall an Enterprise wide unscheduled network outage of PSN, although, I could be wrong.

That's not really true at all. Most high-end systems require something below (however slight) 100%. I work on a high end system and we promise 99% uptime to our customers. We have an occasional 20 minutes outage every couple months or so that is quickly fixed, but it still is well above standards.

I'm sure someone might be held accountable for it but I assure you no heads will roll as a result.

I hear what you are saying Kman... I guess it depends a lot on the temperment of the company you work for, etc. Being that Microsoft's core dollars are associated with computing technology, they may not be so forgiving on unscheduled outages, but that is just my guess.

Me and you have sense enough to know that it is not a question of IF it will fail, but WHEN. Some places have different tolerance levels for major outages... site outages are much much different than enterprise-wide outages. This typically means that something at the CORE network failed. And if you are a pc tech based company, then it makes you LOOK worse than the problem actually was... but then you also have to think, if that type of outage occurred, then that means that their fail-over mechanism did not work.

When people start asking the question of WHY and WHY NOT, etc. is when you will start seeing head-roll soup being server up at lunch.

I just came out a of a hectic 32 player online match of KZ2 and there's probably hundreds of people right now playing a full 32 player online match and there's not a single problem.

GeOW2 5 vs 5 online and the 360 struggles.
KZ2 16 vs 16 online no problems at all.
