They may not be HD, but some of those TVs are decent. I mean they are a good size. I would rather have a larger SD TV than a very small HD. I used to have a 23" HDTV and it blew.

Now I have a 32" Vizio and I must say people underestimate Vizio. Its a 32" Plasma and it has the best picture of any 32" I have seen. Perfect for my room.

LMFAO @ the pic! I honestly thought that more people that owned PS3's/360's would have had them hooked up to HDTV's since the prices of them have gone down so much, but I guess the prices have go down a little bit more.

When I first got my PS3 in Dec. 2006, I had it hooked up to a 20" SDTV for a year and I got a small 23" Samsung HDTV, and just last month I upgraded to a 40" 1080p Samsung. I hope that more gamers find the means to go HD in the near future, it's just awesome.

Why does the size of a T.V. or the setup of your games matter?
Should it not just be about having fun and enjoying the games?
Money doesn't change the gamer. Yea, a big HDTV would be great but sometimes that just doesn't happen. i think that all you need is a TV and a console. Games are about the fun and enjoyment not "look at me i have money, you dont haha" I thought most of these were not that bad at all.

I had the same opinion until I bought a 42" Plasma and watched my PS3 in Full HD glory.... I am not bragging or showing off, but trust me a Big HDTV and 5.1 or 7.1 set up really drags you into a game. Yes, it increases the Fun quotient as well.

Graphics will never be as important as gameplay, but after being spoilt with HDTV's and Full HD, I really dislike a few PS2 games which I loved previously since they appear blotchy now... It's not that they aren't fun, but something always seems missing.

There are certain jaw dropping moments which occur in life... My jaw dropped when I popped in games like SOTC, GOW in my PS2 cause the graphics were awesome at that time... I would be lying if I said it didn't happen when I saw Uncharted or Killzone 2 in Full HD...

I was just looking into the fact that it seems that the "gamer demographic" has begun to look down upon people who cant nessisarily afford the best there is. But by all means upgrade if you can.

not all of us can afford an HDTV i cant i don't even have a TV in my room i just have a 720p native monitor that has VGA and DVI. My xbox 360 is hooked up to it through a hdmi to dvi adapter and for my speakers i use 2.1 Klipsch pro media, not the best but i can still play in HD for under $500(not including console).

Just budget yourself to save money. Cut out some stuff that you can live without and take that money to put towards a HDTV. Go to Walmart. They have the best prices. I got a Sanyo 37' 720p for my bedroom for $600.00 from them.

i cant see myself buying anything sanyo i'm saving up for a 22in 1080p Benq monitor that will blow any HDTV away besides the best of the best video quality wise and they are only $250-$300 and they have HDMI in, Even my Gateway 720p moniter looks better than most HDTV's (sanyo, vizio, etc) the only HDTVs that look better than my current monitor are made by good companys like Samsung, Sony,etc.
+ i play at my desk nest to my computer so i dont need a 32+ inch screen

I'm sure you own a SDTV as well - until you get a HDTV, then these pics will be shabby.

I've seen worse though. My old setup was CRAP compared to these. I had a 21" SDTV from the 1980s (I had it since I was born). It had no volume down control and no power button. To turn it off, you had to unplug it, lol. To turn it down, I used a toothpick.

It sat on top of my TV stand which was from the 1990s.

I finally saved enough money to buy some decent stuff because I believe I deserved it. Gaming on a 50" Plasma HDTV right now, diving into the game. You have an advantage also when the size of the TV is bigger and the picture's more clear. I couldn't play CoD4 back when I had my SDTV because I couldn't see people moving, but increasing the picture's size by 29" made a huge difference.

Try playing a online shooting game like COD4. The draw distance on a SDTV is sh*tty compared to a HDTV.

I would understand if u like playing video games on a casual level then SDTV shouldn't bother u. Whatever gets the job done I guess.

I got a 42 inch hdtv in February, and it makes a big difference, but goddamn! You don't have to be on the bleeding edge of technology to play COD4 - that game isn't even in 720p. Nah, man, most of these setups are much less than shabby. I'd go so far as to say they're alright.

I've also used whatever was lying around to operate a tv, though. Used to use pencils to change the channel.

These televisions are better than mine. The television I have in my living room is a 30" Sharp CRT that's older than I am. It's like 22 years old and still works great.

In my room I have a 19 inch Akai 480p tv. I'm pretty happy with what I got. Nah, I'm lying. I wish I had a huge HDTV with surround sound speakers and the whole shebang. I bet I would enjoy my games a lot more.

Too bad for you I have several 1080p screens different sizes through my house and my special gamingloft full of equipment, PS3, 360, and you can see it with the special theme in the forums where the setups are shown. The screen on my gamingloft is 1080p and for the viewing distiance its optimal that way.

The sad thing is you're still gaming on your PS2 and with a special marker you made a 3 from that 2. Still begging your parents for a colour TV. How is gaming on a 14 inch black&white screen anyway?

I just use a projector that does about 5 feet of a screen, it can do 8 but the picture looks not as good and I use it for the NES up to Dreamcast. I got alot of old school systems from the ones I bought to the ones that family members got me.

Like I said, this time around the HD revolution is a slow-paced one.

With VHS, DVD, and all prior console before PS3/Xbox 360 an HD tv wa snot needed so that made the adoption easier and much quick since all you have to do is buy the Video Player/Console.

Now you need to buy much more, to enjoy HD quality.

I'm just kidding, of course! I remember when I was gaming on my PSone, utilizing an old 1972 RCA television. This was, of course, because my 1988 twenty-seven-inch Magnavox television finally kicked the bucket after being "alive" for 14 years. That TV sure did serve me well...

Now I game on a 50" Sony SXRD 50a3000 Slim Rear Projection set. Probably the most amazing 1080p picture I've ever seen.

I can see the pity in playing on a DVD player or a small monitor, but just because the television is 480i doesn't make it a piece of garbage. Sure the definition is standard, but if you have a 40 inch screen you're ok. It's not as if you need HD to play the games. From my experience, it's just as fun to play a game on a gorgeous screen as it is a standard def one. It's the quality of the game that counts, not the screen. I salute those guys who are making "lemonade"
That said, playing on a 62" HD screen does rock when you're playin a FPS. I

Half of those pictures showed either no gaming set up but something like one old TV or Rock band peripherals, or they were most likly taking before HDTV's came out. The guy sat on the chair on the driving sim didn't even have a PS3 or 360 their he had an original xbox and gamecube. Yeah, I hung them like that because I didn't have the stands and my room was small enough I couldn't walk around with them there anyway. And yes, I still kept bumping my head on them when walking around in the dark at night. lol.

I think the rear speakers on surround sound systems always pose a challenge when it comes to placement. I have the Logitech Z-560 4.1 system myself, and have the rears placed on my ironing board behind my chair. I always have to be careful about pushing my chair too far back after I finish using my computer. :)

it looks a little different now that i've got my PS3 and 360 hooked up together, and i got rid of the stand that the TV is on (and the SDTV in the left corner).

i don't have a surround sound system yet (i live in an apartment building with obnoxiously whiny neighbors, who are constantly complaining about my roommate's surround sound, so i'm just waiting until me and my wife move into a new place, then i'll deck out my sound).

i have to say that for the first three months i had my PS3 i rocked it on an SDTV, until i busted my ass at work one month and bought the 40" Samsung in the pics.

after seeing the PS3 boot up to it's main menu on that baby, i was changed forever.

i don't even have to get into when i first booted up games like Virtua Fighter 5 and Resistance: Fall of Man in HD (this was early 2007).

by the time i made it to Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Folklore (absolutely gorgeous game; the art design is excellent), Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, i knew that i could never go back to SD. EVER.

i dropped $1500 on my Samsung. now, you can get the same one for $700.

no, you don't need a large HDTV to have a good time, but these games are being designed for HD, and they are most certainly at their best in HD.

when i went to visit my wife's family in Iowa, and was forced to play Ratchet and Clank Future: TOD on her sister's 13" SDTV i was convinced of it.

even the 22" HDTVs at work at Activision are better than an SDTV any day.

the HDTV doesn't need to be big, it just needs to be in HD.

if i managed to scrape up $1500 in one month on a measly $10 a month, i don't see why it would be impossible for some folks to save up $400 or so in one month and get them a nice HDTV.

if you can afford 6 video games or more a year, i don't see why it would be hard to save up a few hundred bucks for an HDTV.

there are deals out there on HDTVs for those willing to look, and exercise a little restraint in spending (try putting away $25-$50 each paycheck, and you'll have a nice amount saved up in a month or two). it's easier said than done, but it's not impossible, even in this economy.

Could not agree more. I make $35,000 a year plus bonuses and I just bought a new car and a new tv. It's funny though how you buy a TV than it's so cheap. My 32" was 1200, now it's probably like 700, my 37" was like 1400, now it's easily 1000, and the 42" Led i'm not sure if it went down at all.

Of 32 inch HDTV is recomended if you have a HD console. Bought my Philips 42 inch 3 years ago. Never regreted buying it. Canot ever imagine playing KZ2, uncharted and MGS4 on anything less.

getting a hd-tv is not as expensive as what it used to be, but i guess it all depends on cashflow.
