Those having trouble connecting to Xbox Live are not alone as multiple sources are reporting that 360's online network is down.

Currently, the Xbox LIVE Status page has the Xbox Live and Billing services in the red.

On one hand you have PSN, which is free but includes sh*t loads of lag and awful online with constant disconnects and lack of brilliant features (seriously COD online was almost unplayable)

or XBL which works out at £0.50 per week, and offers a perfect online experience with loads of features and the odd rare hiccup and its down for a few hours

you do know cod works on a peer2peer online system
therefore any lag you experience is from the host of the game, not PSN.

also PSN and XBL use the same host servers fro COD.
maybe if you played some dedicated server online games (exclusive to ps3) maybe you would notice the difference

I didn't want to get involved with all this, i pay for xbox live and i do use PSN alot.

Actual online play is equal on both systems, i don't have anymore lag on PSN than i do on xbox live, infact - i think i've had more lag on games like gears of war 2 than any game i have ever played on PSN.

I'm not taking sides, because i know as a whole xbox live is a better service.

But saying online play is bad on PSN is aload of rubbish, when i can get on a game of killzone 2 - 32 player matches, every single match is on a dedicated server, with SOOOO much going on screen at the same time, without any lag at all.. but then i get on gears of war 2 and get lag on a 10 player match with a few smoke grenades going off around you..

Like i said though, i'm not taking sides - i just want to point out what an idiot you are.

Well, i connected today, it said i was connected to Live but didn't seem to be actually the case (unable to go to the Marketplace, no ad, etc...). I switched off my console, restarted it and now it works perfectly, i even played with some people a nice Left 4 Dead party.

i got kicked off as I was chatting with one of my friends but was back on in 30 minutes or so I wasn't constantly trying to connect so I do't know how long the outage was for me exactly

That's not what this is - it's an unexpected outage. MS wouldn't just pull the plug on live so they could add something new.

according to epic it was basically a reboot of live, they shut it down and reset it because of some database issues stemming from xbox.com to live

they knocked it out to minimize database problems while they fixed xbox.com

anybody who works with databases knows how much it sucks when your database gets mangled, especially when multiple applications are sharing the same databases

so live went out as of yesterday. i really dint noticed i play a online at my local gaming lounge (which has 20 xbox 360 and 2 PS3!!!) with a couple of friend and we never disconnected. even when i got home at night no disconects

now does this random ONE TIME OF THE MONTH disconnects make PSN better than XBL HELL NO!!!

it does not make any difference whats so ever if anything this makes the XBL better they had a problem, which i never noticed, they fixed it with in 24 hours and less i know for sure maybe overnight it for me

so we do wat we get payed for a service thats up and running and we use every feature we got since the service works.

we are not waiting for these features to come we have not been saying HOME will solve our problems or HOME will put 360 into garbage since two years ago HOME was announced and still nothing

Are you guys having a special on banning today? Getting $5.00 for each ban or something? All I wont to say is do this ALL the time and not just when someone complains about XBox live or PSN. Flamebait articles are approved all the time on this site and while people do complain about it nothings happens. I know your doing your job but this type of practice needs to be done on a more daily basis. When flamebait articles are approved, that brings nothing but flamebait comments. Set the example by not allowing the flamebait articles then maybe that will encourage people to be a little more friendly in the comment section.
