Super Mario Galaxy 2 : a PAL release date ?

According to LiveWii.fr, Nintendo has finally set a release date for its new platforming game with Mario and it should be available for the end of August. It would be possible as Nintendo is used to deliver a game after holidays since the Wii is out.

But the question that remains : if this information is true, what game will be the one to be published for Christmas ? Metroid : Other M ? Zelda Wii ?

Mario galaxy runs great on dolphin emulator. This should be fun.

wii only has a handful of games worth playing. No point investing in a console just for a bunch of games.

Mario galaxy was good, but as a one off game. Even whilst i was playing it i thought that it wouldn't be good if they did a sequel.

I don't like the space theme. I didn't like mario sunshine for the same reason- strange and unlikely theme for a mario game. Almost as bad as plonking sonic the hedgehog in a human city, or giving him a gun.

Nintendo need to bring out a new character, instead of giving a 30 year old character new adventures that doesn't even suit him.

Dedicated Mario platformers are pretty rare -- the Wii is the first to get two 3D Super Marios. He appears in mascot games all the time, but for his own platformers, Mario shows up less than the constant cycle of COD or NFS (heck, Halo and GTA are over saturated compared to actual Mario platformers this gen and last). Every game maker relies on established IP at the expense of always putting out new ones.

What suits Mario is a matter of personal taste. I really liked SMG, thought it was fresh, and can't wait to see what else they come up with. The level design in Galaxy was off the charts.

Didn't suit him? It suited him enough that it's one of the best games ever made and a lot of people loved it. You didn't like it, but you're one of the minority.

If they make it as good or better than the first I will happily buy it.

Yeah, exactly. Just reuse the same game engine and churn out practically a carbon copy of the first game, now with added yoshi. No thanks.

Unless this game gets rave reviews (and i'm talking 90percent plus positive reviews) i won't be buying. Same old.

God forbid they make super mario galaxy 3- i'm not helping that happen.

Why don't nintendo stop pissing around with mario galaxy and give us something new? O at least a franchise that hasn't been on the wii yet. ie starfox or f-zero.

I really wonder what the 2010 holiday release will be. If they hold off on Mario until late spring or summer, would they dare to release Other M for the holidays?

Don't get me wrong, it's actually what I want, since I'm a huge Metroid fan and would love to see the series get the sales it truly deserves. But it has never put up Mario/Zelda numbers.

(I'm assuming Zelda will be 2011. It's the last big gun Nintendo has to fire, so they're going to hold off on it for as long as they can.)

But think of Disney and Mickey Mouse. Mickey is synonymous with Disney, but they haven't got where there are now by telling all their stories using Mickey Mouse. You can only use a character to a certain extent before it stops being true to the character. I thought thats why they had Metroid- samus is more suitable for all that 'space stuff.'

Its just like mario bros 2, didn't people complain that it didn't seem like mario? And then it was revealed they were originally going to use different characters, but then replaced them with characters from the mario world. Hence why it seems 'odd.'

It would be nice to remember the wii for its diverse games, rather than mario galaxy 1, 2, 3, 4. mario tennis, mario golf, mario kart, mario party, mario rpg, mario mario mario.

It might be a safe bet for nintendo, but it sure is boring and wearing thin.

I don't care about the halos, GTA's, metal gear solids because i own a wii so wont have to play them.

I don't buy fifa games.

Sonic hasn't been in a good game since the late nineties. As far as i'm concerned Sega a beating a dead horse- Sonic is dead.

Madden? No matter how many madden games come out, they will always be crap.

Rachet and clank? A waste of breath to even talk about.

NHL. Crap.

Mario and the million spin offs bother me because i own a wii and nintendo aren't giving me a variety of games to choose from. I had mario galaxy, now something new please.

I really did like mario galaxy, i though the setting was a bit odd but yes, it was a great game.

I just don't like the idea of a second one. I think it would be better if nintendo put the energy and time into making a new title.
