When i get an achievement i expect something more to happen besides a default logo popping up to inform me that I did it. I wan achievements to unlock extras in game. I have no clue why this gen is so into useless achievements besides to say they did it.

To each their own i guess.

i agree with you right there
i don't see what the big deal about trophies and achievements are they are just pointless in the end

1 thing i liked about metroid primes 3 point system is that you could actually use it to unlock extras in the game

i don't see why people like trophies and achievements so much what's the big deal?

Myst5443d ago

I agree just as well. Achievements should have some sort of bonuses after receiving them, I mean most of the time many of the achievements are generally gained on harder difficulties. So it would be nice to have some extra stuff to go along with it.

Also the only reason I like getting trophies is for fun, I mean on Playfire I joined a clan and we are in a ranking type of thing, just all for fun. So whenever I get one it just gets me one step closer to another level in the clan. Though I'm not going to lose sleep on trying to get every last one of them.

Anyway yeah I agree in-game bonuses after getting an achievement please!

Vistrix5443d ago

Some trophies have bonuses on them - Home items.

Sony have also said in the past, they plan on implementing a reward system.

An even better idea:

More achievements = a discounted DLC price. Maybe for every achievement you get, 2 pennies are added to the next DLC you buy. This would garner well for people that want to work hard and actually have something to prove for it, and also for the people who are complaining about the prices.

@1.1
I'm not really sure. I'm a trophy fanatic. If I know I can get a platinum trophy on my game, I'll play it to death until I can get it (latest played-to-death game: inFamous). My friends don't care about trophies, and I don't care to brag about them, but there's just something in me that wants to keep playing until I know I've completely BEATEN the game according to trophy standards.

Guys, you're missing the point. If achievements unlocked things in the game they wouldn't be achievements, they'd just be plain old secrets, like have always been in games.

You say they're 'pointless' and yes, they are - but that's kind of the point of them. They're for showing people online how good you are at games.

Smacktard5443d ago

I think the "achievement" type things were done very well in Wario Land: Shake It! and Metroid Prime 3. They actually netted you stuff for completing them.

The in-game achievements of Mega Man 9 were done badly. They should've unlocked stuff we instead paid for with the DLC. Still, I completed all of them. Damn completionism :(

Anyway Nintendo will always be one step behind the competition in features that make games better, be it hardware horsepower or full integration with its online service.

EYEamNUMBER15443d ago

um so who are the ones behind nintendo releasing motion controls?

Mo0eY5443d ago

@1.1

Did he mention the Wiimote at all? Try again.

ZuperAmazingCooKie5443d ago

As 1.2 said, Try again.

Nintendo has been 1uped this E3 anyway.

PtRoLLFacE5443d ago

lol wait achievement for wii i wonder if has enough power to handle them lol

Smacktard5443d ago

This is quite possibly the dumbest comment I've ever read. 'grats.

Microsoft Xbox 3605443d ago

Nintendo's online network is a clusterf*ck. No unified user system and no support to stop online cheaters. I'm not talking about glitchers now, I'm talking about full blown game altering, code injecting cheaters.

Mo0eY5443d ago

Yup, I am one of those players. I played Animal Crossing: City Folk for a while just because it was fun to break the game, get 999 million bells, or redesign my town with nothing but rare items and have people come over and play.

Nintendo couldn't do a thing about it either because as you said, their online infrastructure is a clusterf*ck.

Because we all miss accidentally throwing our Wiimotes at the TV, so let's throw some Joy-Cons.

VR is the same way, wrist straps for a reason.

I loved the golf from Wii Sports Resort.

Cuzizkool837d ago

I was always confused by Nintendo’s decision to kill the franchise. “Super” stayed with Mario titles even after the Super Nintendo. They can still use the Wii name. Hell it’s been so long that releasing a new one, or even an HD remaster, will tap into that nostalgia market.

DazaMc837d ago

Super Mario launched on the NES not the Super NES.

septemberindecember836d ago

Super was never because of the Super Nintendo. Super Mario Bros launched on the NES. The Super is because it's an indirect sequel to Mario Bros.

They can just call it Nintendo Sports or something, but using the Wii name would be a bit confusing.

Bigman4k837d ago

Yeah i agree but i don't think Nintendo will be bringing wii sports to the Nintendo Switch samething goes for diddykong racing
