If a multiplatform game does look better on 360 (which none do since the naked eye can't see any difference), then it's not because the PS3 is holding it back, it's because it's easier to develope on 360 than on PS3 and the devs are lazy and don't even try to do a better job with ps3 versions.

And conclusion prove that :

Thankfully we have reached a point where games like Bayonetta PS3 and FFXIII 360 are the exceptions rather than the rule. These are releases where the vast bulk of the developmental time was spent on just the one console, before the other was shoehorned into the schedule

PS3 hardware simple can not handle all effects at 60fps in games like Bayonetta.
Im no speaking about other games or exclusives, Bayonetta constructed for xbox hardware first ,with advantages of Xenus GPU like EDRAM,no Cell or RSX in PS3 can replace that

The Cryengine 3 tech demo is just that, a tech "Demo". It is demonstrating what they can do and hope to do, not what they have done or will do in a full size game later.

Actually the 360 has higher resolution/better LOD for shadowmap if you look at 'fine-grain' detail pronouncation. You can also see to the right-middle height that the shadow LOD for the PS3 versions is more aggressive creating a line between sharp and blurry shadows

PS3 requires more resources to run XMB etc, compared to X360's xbox guide thingy, thus less memory avaliable
The 360's embedded memory on the gpu provides additional savings. On the PS3 the frambuffer and z-buffer come out of the GDDR3 VRAM, whereas the 360 only needs to store the finished frame in main memory.
