I had the same complaints you had with OoT...except I had those complaints back in 1997 when Ocarina of Time first came out. Of course, I wasnt a kid anymore in 1997 so I guess its true what people say.
Eventually you do outgrow Nintendo's franchises. They do target a different audience after all.
