I think it all comes down to what the definition of a "hardcore" or "casual" game is. The definition that seems to be more prevalent today is more in line with the ESRB rating. Most people will say that if I play Gears or God of War that makes me hardcore. But in actuality, those are just "mature" titles. On the other hand, if a person plays Mario Galaxy 2, it makes them casual? To me, hardcore and casual gamers are defined by the amount of time spent playing gam...

Thank you sir for making probably one of the best comments I have ever read on N4G! I’ve been wondering what all of these news and media websites mean by saying that Kinect will attract the casual crowd. If you’re an older gamer, and have responsibilities, your *** is a casual gamer. Back in the days, I also thought the term “hardcore” playing video games to the point of almost becoming obsessed. Watching every episode of “Video Power”, or the Super Mario Bros. show. But with this generation, ...

It would appear that all parties involved with this deal seem to be the winners. For Bungie, they just signed a deal with one of the biggest game distributors in Activision. To this point, Activision has the money to ensure that all gamers get to play and enjoy Bungie's next project. Next, from what the public terms of the contractual agreement state, they only thing that Activision has a say in is publishing. This gives Bungie the independence that Microsoft couldn't or wouldn't guarantee th...

That it is a win/win for both parties involved. For Activision, they get a top-notch developer that understands how to create good games, and Bungie finally receives the freedom and creative control over their IP, and assistance in creating an online world from Blizzard. With that being said, I think Bungie's next game will be a MMO style game that can be played on many different platforms. I noticed Bungie keeps on using the word "universe" when they speak of their new IP. What do...

Rare is in no way a letdown to Microsoft. First, Rare has put out some decent casual titles ( Kameo, Viva Pinata, Perfect Dark) that have sold very well for Microsoft. Secondly, Microsoft acquired Rare so that they could reach the casual audience. Look at the NXE...Rare had everything to do with the Avatars. We all know that Microsoft is going to start doing something with them in the near future. There was an interview in Game Informer a while back where they explained what their vision was ...

I usually visit N4G daily, and I will say that not every fanboy is the same. It seems like some people just make comments to be funny, and some because they really believe it.I think that you will always have "fanboys" because everyone wants to feel as if they made the right choice about a purchase, decision, etc.

MS has done a great job considering the odds....First, everybody and their grandmother owned or has owned a PS2. That's brand recognition for Sony if I ever saw it. I didn't even purchase an Xbox last generation. Secondly, by MS surpassing the 25million mark, it shows that they were able to sway some last generation PS2 owners to either own multiple consoles, or exclusively for Xbox. Third, they have, for the most part, overcome the RROD. Mine went out last year, and I don't think it was acce...

Sony didn't want this to turn into a religious agenda, so they pulled the game. The backlash Sony would have recieved from shipping this game knowing that this was there would have been major. Yeah sure people will create user-generated content as thier own backlash toward Muslims....but it's not Sony. You don't want the GOTY contender to be negatively publicized like this. You guys have to relax. I wanted to play the game just a bad as everyone else. Some people on this site have been really...

I didn't see where in the article that Eidos stated that Microsoft paid for DLC. Maybe I missed it?

When Gears came out, there really wasn't anything to play for the 360. Could you chalk the games success up to timing, sure, but I think it did well because of the co-op aspect as well. In my opinion, I liked Gears alot because of the intimate aspect. It makes you feel like you can turn the tide of a battle. In other multiplayer games it feels as though your life isn't important because you will just respawn anyway. Alot of issues that were present in the first Gears won't be there this time ...

This is getting out of hand. Bioshock is a great game, with a real emphasis on playing the game differently each time you turn it on. Especially the first time you encounter a Big Daddy, and have to figure out a strategy on how to take him down. I thought we were all gamers!! If I didn't get it on my 360 when it came out, I would for sure get it on the PS3. The bottom line is that some PS3 owners will never be happy with the outcome of this game just because it came to the 360 first. Sad real...

I loved the demoscene, but I didn't get into it until 1993. My first PC was filled with demos when I was just a young lad* wipes tear from eye*. Sony just has to make sure that they price it so that it's affordable for someone to try it out, and maybe more demos will come to PSN. I have to give credit where credit is due though, Sony continues to bring creative titles to the PSN like flow, flower, echochrome, and now this.

The Wii has done amazing things for the perception of video gaming, it opened up people's minds about the possibility of having a "family-gaming night" when gaming has never been considered by some people who never play games as a form of entertainment. So for that, I respect what the Wii has accomplished. As far as hardcore goes, the lines between what is considered hard-core and what is casual is being blurred by the gaming industry. Back in the day, there were no overshields, cov...

Sony is really starting to pick up some steam. LBP will be huge along with Resistance, and Sony seems to have learned some humility along the way. I think the reason why the devs wanted to develop for the 360 was because of the install base, but now alot has changed. Alot of people get emotional on here about business decisions, but it's just that business. It is no secrect that all three consoles have pushed each other to do better, and we the gamers, have benefited greatly from it. It will ...

I thought that you would get a console-specific suit depending on which console you pre-ordered it on. I though I saw that on 1up, but I could be wrong.

This doesn't mean that they will charge for MAG. I would say the probability of them charging for it is high since MMO's usually charge a monthly fee. Silogon's words were harsh, but honest. I think it all comes down to the value of something. If you think it's worth the value of paying a little extra to play the game you will pay for it, otherwise you won't.

@ Some_One_Plays: I would have to disagree with you. Sony doesn't charge for online play because it's a big selling poin...

We will see the real tech come in when all three companies release thier respective consoles. This time around Sony has to be very careful not to cross into that $500-$600 threshold again. We all know that Sony's console is a better deal for consumers, but price will always be a major factor in whether to purchase something or not.

Look...I completely understand the whole RROD thing, and that Microsoft should have done the right thing, but they are fixing it aren't they? I can't understand how you guys can think that Sony would be pulling out all the stops for their console if Microsoft wasn't effecting them. The price cut is a good deal for someone who has young children, as they have no need to go online, or have a HDD. Or for someone who is low on money, but wants a console. This discussion of value is ridiculous. Va...

That this racist thing has gone to far. I am an American male who happens to be black, and we played the game hangman all the time when I was in grade school. I think the real problem is that the issue of racism as a whole hasn't been dealt with. If people are able to express their opinions freely without being labled a racist, only then will true dialouge occur. But, on the other hand, people can't fall into the trap of generalizing by saying " if African-Americans feel this way" b...

That LBP would not allow this type of content to be made. I know it's all about creativity with this game, but this could potentially hurt LBP sales if they are aiming this game at a casual audience. If parents get any sense that their child's game has the potential to make adult themes...all bets are off. I know they stated that they would monitor the level creator closely, but try explaining this concept to a parent. Forget it.
