"if there the best console and software they should have sold 20 million
by this time "

I don't know about this. Even though the 360 has been out for over 18 months, for the first year there were plenty of gamers sitting on the fence to see what the PS3 would deliver. We're still in the realm of early adopters (mostly).

I imagine a majority of 360 owners bought it because they're dedicated to the Xbox hardware, or because they can afford both s...

I disagree that the 360 has the most potential. It's realized most of the potential thus far, but the PS3 and even the Wii have plenty of opportunity to take the market. One of the largest issues with the 360, (besides hardware failure) is it's inability to cater to different audiences.

They've realized most of the potential in their hardcore american adult male market, but nothing else so far. You could even say that the 360 is completely oblivious to gender neutral games be...

Ninja Gaiden Sigma was recently released in the US, and released very recently in Japan as well. You could easily say it's the best next-gen action game seen so far on either system. I wouldn't be surprised if this game contributed to the extra systems being moved.

How did Call of Juarez get a lower score than Hour of Victory?

There's a very large amount of new HD-DVD titles coming in Quarter 2. Unfortunately practically every single one of these titles are old Universal titles (10~+ years.) These aren't new releases in the sense that they're new movies. They're old movies that have been brought to HD-DVD. Additionally, alot of the Universals recent releases have been of poor quality. To be honest, when playing RPGs back in grade school, I expanded my vocabulary much further than my peers. Games with developed storylines and dialogue can be a very good method for increasing reading skills.

Also, jumping on the "parent's fault" bandwagon. How did your child manage to buy all those games and video game systems? Oh, that's right, you bought it for him.

There's nothing wrong with funding third-party exclusives, and there's definitely nothing wrong with earning them either. From a financial and business standpoint, you can't keep paying for exclusives over time; the investment continues growing, the benefits more inconclusive, and the total amount spent? Enormous.

From a long term business perspective, buying exclusives for your system over time probably isn't going to turn out to be a wise decision. But in the short term, ...

Who's to say the PSN won't have downloadable videos of E3 or demos? It will be the first real E3 for PS3, so obviously were not assuming based off some precedent. I'm not going to make any assumptions either way, because I don't think it's really necessary for Sony or even Microsoft to announce ahead of time that you'll be able to download their conference off their online service.

It's great that Microsoft has announced it, but I don't find that it's so incredibly newsworthy ...

I don't think their intention is to catch Joe Bob, the blue collar working man who downloads the newest CD, but rather individuals like the one caught in SoCal a few weeks ago. The pirates who are selling pre-loaded harddrives, modded xboxes, pirated software etc, for money. Obviously they'd love to stop those freely distributing ripped CDs etc, but there is nothing noble about selling pirated software.

As much as I know this article is going to be flamebait, the article does include actual sources, and is hosted on a reputable website unlike many other 360 failure articles.

I don't want to derail the discussion, but I remember listening to the interview with the developer of Shadowrun. He was rather upset that his game didn't get good reviews, and that it wasn't doing too well in general. I think the number one issue was just that the price was too high for a multiplayer game. I don't doubt that the game was fun, or that it was fairly innovative for a FPS, but I agree that $60 is a lot for a game who's audience will be stolen when Halo 3 is released. (Imagin...

Keep in mind that the retail version is a special edition. (rumored to have "Making of" "Behind the Scenes" features). This game is a downloadable title through PSN and will clearly cost significantly less than $60. (most likely $30 or less) I don't think it's accurate to compare it to Shadowrun seeing as you have two options, 1. A packaged title 2. Downloadable title.

Either way, there's a definite quality of value to both options. (considering the MSRP...

So I guess it's just a switch. But I'm even more confused that the "audio in" is a stereo mini instead of a L/R channel RCA connection. So you're using a HDMI-DVI cable, and the composite cable for the L/R audio, and on top of all that, you have to use a L/R RCA to 3.5mm stereo mini adapter for the sound?

I really like the concept and a lot of the artwork, but I don't think the developers are going to have the time or ability to really do justice to their own game. Some of the animations and mechanics looked kind of klutzy and I wonder if they're going to be able to hammer out all the minor details before the game ships.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but couldn't you always use an HDMI-DVI cable?

This japanese game has been able to be function through Remote Play for several weeks now. It's all very cool. There is no rumor, games can be played through on the PSP through remote play, but so far only one title supports it.

Unfortunately, this news is several weeks old. :(

I would love for this all to be true. But a forum post is not a credible source. We'll know soon enough I suppose.

I'm curious as to why there's so much hostility regarding the editors/consultants interviewed on the Bonus Round. The fact of the matter here is that the gaming industry is a very profitable and very wide-reaching sector of the Entertainment business. While this is important for the gaming businesses themselves, (Sony/Nintendo/Microsoft), most importantly it's extremely relevant to investors, which is why you see individuals like Pachter.

You can disagree as much as you'd lik...
