That's a whole hell of a lot of data to store, it would have to be collected and analyzed remotely, and then updated when the game connected to the internet. You would also have to include an index for strategy success and assign different average levels of success to your AI in order to modulate difficulty.

I think all the tools to do this are in place, they just haven't been used in this way before. It's a bit like the way google handles translation.

If you want in depth information about game development, you should check out university websites. Because I used to go to RIT, I'll show you theirs.

I know people who graduated from this program, it's a good one. Their math curriculum consists of algebra & trig, discrete math and analytic geometry. That's not hard math, and I'm of the opinion...

Google Bericht!? Why the hell do I want to see this? Just post a link to the damn YouTube video. I don't give a shit about the poorly translated 2 sentence introduction that some dutch guy gave.

In other news, sweet video. Shooting looks awesome.

Can someone tell me what's up with these translated German articles that keep getting submitted? They take a year to load because they have to translate, and I don't even want to decode the broken english, and the screen shots aren't even interesting. No shit people want these games, I don't need a poor translation of a German article to tell me that.

Brilliantly relevant exploration of the seductive power of video games. Interesting that the GTA and cocaine addictions fed each other, but GTA ultimately provided context for reflection on the author's drug addiction.

From the article: "Curiously, Bioware has yet to give a satisfactory response on any of the issues presented."

Bioware CEO Ray Muzyka: "Dragon Age is a first person narrative... It's fundamentally about defining your character... In Mass Effect it's more a third person narrative, where you have a pre-defined character who is who he is, or she is... So they're different types of narratives, and that's intentional."

This is a perfectly acceptable re...

I won't disagree about Green Day being less than stellar instrumentalists, and maybe The Beatles weren't the best. However, The Beatles evolved from a simple British pop band to international sensation, and then to experimental innovators in Western music and film. The Beatles may not have been virtuosos at the instruments they initially played, but to say they lacked innovation is just plain false. They were at the forefront of musical fusion at the time, and by the end of The Beatles, such ...

Not to mention the gem in this article "Snow Leopard is almost here"...

Yeah, that makes a huge difference when you have a PC that is not capable of running Mac OS without some rule-breaking and extensive messing around with software and firmware.

So basically what we've got here are some old, unofficial pieces of concept art for Deus Ex 3, some interesting tech that really doesn't do anything at the moment, and a bunch of amateur renders of scantily clad women...

great.

how many amazing shooters have come out since this game began development? how many of them is DN:F realistically going to be better than?

what we've seen so far of the game has been decent at best... the only silver lining here is the possibility of a NEW duke nukem game in development, maybe they'll actually get their s*** together for this one.

On a decent computer, it's true that you won't have much in the way of performance issues with Vista, but there's still the poor organization, the multitudinous annoyances and the ugliness of the aero interface (IMO) which only gets uglier if you start disabling graphics stuff. You can strip the OS down to the essentials if you really want to go to all that trouble, but why should you have to do that? Win7 is better thought out, better looking and better performing right out of the box.

Unfortunately without Will Wright or Maxis involved, I don't think we'll be seeing a proper successor to SimCity. Cities XL, however, looks to be an excellent candidate to pick up where SC4 left off. If you haven't, check out the Cities XL website; there's a vibrant community and Monte Cristo is really listening to them and including LOTS of features that have been specifically requested in the forums. It looks like everything that made SimCity great and more will be making it into this game....

There is no way in hell the PS3 could render the CGI trailer at 60 frames per second, not even 10. It would be closer to 10 seconds per frame.

TECHNICALLY, the CGI trailer looks better, and you'll realize that once you take a closer look at particle effects and model/texture resolution. AESTHETICALLY, the actual game may look better, as they've developed a very distinct art style that just happens to look really friggin cool.

hah, I agree completely

my theory is the people who were disappointed with GTA IV were the people who couldn't figure out the driving and kept crashing into things... the 360 has TWO triggers, people.

I agree with kwyjibo, mostly in that this article is complete bullshit.

I'd like to point out a couple things. It's been stated already that Steam allows for easy updating of games, and that is what Valve is doing with L4D. How is it wrong or a concession of defeat when a company patches an exploit in their game? I simply do not understand this assertion, it's ridiculous. Secondly, Steam is not the least bit un-friendly. It's lightweight for what it is, has a myriad of useful fea...

These sackboy designs don't fall under the category of patentable, as they are original works, rather than inventions or processes. They are, instead, subject to copyright law. A copyright requires no special process or application to acquire, it is simply in effect as soon as a work is created. Now, I'm not sure whether these people explicitly stated that their designs were copyrighted, or what the terms of the contest were. If in participating in the contest, they ceded their rights to the ...
