F*** them! They lost my business in 2008.
And Nintendo can stop shipments to d*ckhead businesses like Toys'RUs.
Nintendo can pitch lower development costs and Japanese market dominance while MS pitches the Online and HD markets.
but soon Wii/360 multis. Equals more games released on both Wii and 360, I suppose. I also suppose MS doesn't want the 360 to end up a niche hardcore product, the way Wii has passed its userbase in just one year.
Wii60 games may be just high-specced /medium-specced editions.
Most likely third parties and MS have seen the writing on the wall in regards to traditional interfaces and simply want a huge market, the sooner the better. Motion sensing expands the industry.
focussed, Nintendo should expand. Capcom, Ubisoft, LucasArts and Sega aren't enough to generate a massive library of games. And Nintendo produces higher quality than EA and Activision. Even Ubisoft's mediocre Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia ports didn't do much for the Wii library.
Nintendo should expand to stealth, FPS and action platformers! Give that house another name if need be. It doesn't look like anyone else will be putting in the effort in those genres.
Opening up gameplay is more hardcore than refined graphics. The question is are PS360 owners gamers first or their HD woodies come first?
not only can kids master ~8 intuitive actions in kids' games, experienced gamers can master ~25 actions in 'hardcore gamer' games. That opens up great flexibility in tactics during challenges. Plus no need for auto-targeting to prevent play from slowing to a crawl.
That quickness and flexibility advances 3D gameplay for everyone. Maybe if Nintendo had kept the name Revolution there would be less talk about people's grandmas.
Anyways, 25 intuitive actions beats 10 randomly ...
And with that color palette, she's a post-op tranny in an urban jungle.
Where's the LUSHNESS I remember from Tomb Raider 2? Oh, it's in Uncharted and LEGO Indiana Jones next. Tomb Raider only has cool, nihilistic jungles now and Lara is a goth queen! Ooooh!
Nintendo did what it has always done. It launched a sub-$250 console. And let's not forget that before adding a pointer and accelerometers, Nintendo also introduced the directional pad, analog stick, shoulder buttons and rumble to console gamepads. People shouldn't be shocked that Nintendo stuck to its pattern.
confirmed.
Super Paper Mario and Strikers take Europe!
expecting consumers to pay top dollar and expecting developers to learn a unique, new architecture without providing them decent tools. Consumers and developers actually do have other options than "the Sony way".
First year sales of Wii consoles have been to mainstream & core gamers, not casuals! EA and others are trying to penetrate a market that doesn't exist yet. The proof? Look which 3rd party games have met with good sales: Red Steel, Resident Evil 4, Tiger Woods, Trauma Center and Rayman. What is the center point of the market that bought these games? It's not the same point as 'EA Playground' and 'Dewy', which fall past the casual & cute end of Ravin Rabbids.
At least the GameCube had the "kid-friendly" market. Now Japanese gamers have switched to Wii and DS, and Western devs like the easy PC-360 development. So aside from selling Sony IP's to the wealthiest gamers (and apparently not new IP's like Lair and Heavenly), what is the PS3 target market? Maybe that MMORPG spy game will give PS3 a bigger role in the gaming world, maybe not.
Those millions of former casual PS2 (now Wii) gamers aren't interested in a 'Boogie' or a 'Dewy'. Most aren't even fans of Metroid and Zelda! They got a Wii because of motion controls and the price. They're more into zombies (RE4), yakuza (Red Steel) and comedic mascots like Rayman. Nintendo should make a bid to get Conker back too, as who wants a photo-realistic squirrel?
Analog stick for direction/targeting and
Tilt for very fast banks/turns.
Same goes for Wii flight games (Although the pointer is the most precise, flight =/= twitch play).

bandwagon and supply OLED screens for the DS!
Oh, and a second "Wow!" at the Wii sales numbers : )
Wii provides an experience that's different from what people are used to. PS360 have the too similar games and gameplay as ever (in the public mind). My only next-gen "Wow!" so far has been the photo-textures in Crysis (PC) and I think 360 should put out games like that in 480p because for people to pay $400 they need to say "Wow!" Sony won't do it because they sell HDTVs ;)
Wii > 360 + PS3 this week in both America and Japan, but Wii < 360 + PS3 in Others (even when subtracting PS3 sales in Spain!). Does this make Europe the next-gen stronghold?
