Great news for the Blu-Ray camp.
Despite Transformers grossing the second-most this summer (Spiderman 3 being the #1), and breaking records for first day/weeks sales on HD formats, HD-DVD as a whole still could not out-edge Blu-Ray.
If anything, the studios need to take notice of this. Blu-Ray still overcoming one of the biggest releases this holiday season with no notable releases for itself, and Spiderman 3, as well as Pirates 3, still on the way should speak ...

People need to stop complaining about VGChartz, and comment more on the actual topic.
Look up the facts, they are consistently within 10%(Usually lower)of NPD's data, they're definitely reliable to a certain degree.
With that said, the numbers are pretty good for PS3 fans. The sales stay elevated, and the PES'08 bundle will move a LOT of consoles. We'll see if the 40GB can have a lasting effect over there, and what titles do well.
Wow, this article is completely false.
The near 400% spike of HW last week (Remember that although big %-wise, it is still only around 7k) is almost entirely due to the 360 Elite debuting over there.
PGR4 had little to no effect.

And either way, it just seems weird that a lot of journalists have gone into this demo thinking it might stray away from the formula too much, yet have come out thoroughly impressed.

Not only is stealth in the battlefield a new concept to either series, Metal Gear has and will always have a certain comedic flair, and over-the-top boss battles that has, and probably always will, make it the best stealth series out there.

Just remember that the PS3's price drop of the 60GB/20GB in Japan isn't effective until October 17th, so sales will naturally taper off until then. Also that the 360 Elite debuted in Japan this week (Both so those points should explain Famitsu's figures).
And as another side-note, the Japanese also receive the 40GB PS3 (Black&White) along with DW6 bundle in early November.
The Orange Box has actually received plenty of marketing, especially with their TV advertisement.
And Halo 3's marketing budget and reach was far, far beyond that of Heavenly Sword's, don't kid yourself.
But your last point was indeed correct, PS3 owners need to start buying more software.
They get their figures from a wide selection of retail samples from the market. Using the samples they get, they use extrapolation data to get an accurate estimate.
And since their figures won't be 100% accurate, they compare their figures with tracking services like NPD to make sure they're on track.
I'm not directly commenting on this weeks figures, so don't assume this is a fanboy-ish rant.
But for the people complaining about the inaccuracy of VGChartz numbers, stop. It uses plenty of resources to gets its sales figures, and often compares/corrects according to professional tracking services.
On topic, great for PS3. Hopefully they can sustain these sales until the PES'08 bundle, which should move a lot of consoles.
If either of you actually knew what you were talking about, you would know that VGChartz actually uses a bevy of sources and extrapolation data to figure out is sales numbers.
Not only that, but when NPD releases their figures, VChartz compares its data and makes any changes if necessary.
In other words, you both are incredibly fail.
