Screen tearing appears because of V-sync issues, it has nothing to do with his TV, please read some real facts about games before posting "Imaginary" ones.
THIS IS SET BY THE GAME DEVELOPER!! NOT BY THE TV!....To prove this play Saints Row on the 360 (or ANY PC game) you can select to turn it on or off (off gives a better frame rate but more screen tearing).
