I'm confused here. Does the marketing team at MS really do market research, or did they just redesign the product, with no feedback from the their target market, the gamers?
First they remove the color coded buttons = quick way to confuse and shut out new gamers.
Secondly, they're forcing core gamers to buy an extra play n charge kit, which most already have.
Maybe someone else who understands this can explain this to the rest of us.

Windows 7 with DivX 7 allows you to stream MKV files natively on the Xbox 360 through WMC. Unlike Tversity or Twonky, there's no transcoding, buffering or loss of quality. Give it a try!
I saw that coming since they announced that they weren't gonna make the Zune HD phone or use Tegra chips.
Please release a NTSC version. Europe is not the only region that plays cricket!
I've had the dashboard update through the preview for almost a month, and there was not one problem.
Every issue is not caused by an update, people. Get informed before spreading ignorance.
Am I the only one who thinks MS is phasing out the wrong item? Personally, I thought the Arcade model would be phased out and they'd offer the Pro for $199. Otherwise, there's no real deal here when compared to the new PS3 price. This is coming from a 360 owner.
mostly every other country in the world. There's actually a cricket world cup.
Is there a NTSC version?
sounds like your videos are being transcoded. I tried it on my pc once but it transcoded just the same, as not all codecs are supported. I would recommend streaming through WMP 11 or using Badaboom to convert to a compatible format. That saved me a lot of time and frustration.
more critics should read the articles before making comments.
Am I a pirate because I have Netflix and other streaming options?
Everyone doesn't want to collect hundreds of DVDs and BDs.
If you want to access Xbox live again, think before installing this. Microsoft has all the console IDs of the people who should have this. The same happened with the last update and we know how it turned out.
and I must say I like the improvements with netflix, especially what appears to be an update to allow smooth streaming tech. The HD videos look much better than they did previously.
I love my Xbox 360, but of late, I've really been shocked by the rise in prices on XBL. I've just decided not to purchase games until they're discounted. I mean, MS is making a killing on Ads, we still pay for a yearly subscription and there's hardly anything to show for it.
I know there may not be many gamers who share my sentiments and make purchases despite the price hike, so the prices will just keep rising.
I can already see MS making a killing on Avatar clothing and a...
Thanks. That was a great demo. I can't wait for the full game.
anyone else getting a "cache.fbz" file corrupted error during setup? I downloaded the file three times and it's still corrupted.
"Zune buyers will also be able to play HD content on their TVs via a dock, Microsoft said."
Based on Tegra's specs, you don't need a dock to playback HD content. Just an HDMI cable.
I'll hold off on the excitement until those details are revealed.
very good points. I must assume that author really doesn't know much about both systems.
Windows 7 + Media Center + mkv support + Internet TV + Play To = WIN and makes the Xbox 360 a much better option for streaming. Not only is it easier, but more user friendly.
If you haven't tried the DivX Tech Preview yet with the Xbox 360 as an extender on Windows 7, don't be so fast to jump on this bandwagon.
If this really works as they say, I'm doing a clean install as soon as the official RC file gets here. I just muxed my mkv files with AC3 sound into m2ts and they won't function well with my xbox 360. There is no runtime info and the file hangs after a few minutes of playing. Anyone else tried this?
I just switched to U-verse and I'm enjoying the consistent bitrate, compared to Comcast's which was always hit or miss.
for all those who may disagree. I really like my 360, but there are some things I just can't defend. Two days... two perplexing press releases from Microsoft.
