For the record I think both formats will be around for a long time, becasue of combo disc and combo players, which are coming down in price
The combo drives are coming. Actually I just picked up a LG Blubay/ hd-dvd dvd internal drive for my PC for $229 at bestbuy.com. Its a great drive.
I know what you are talking about though. some com,[any was working on a disc that would hold both bluray and Hd dvd.
They are both very comparable to each other. But if your looking for a great High def player you can't beat the LG - 16x Internal Blu-ray Disc/ HD DVD Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive for 229 at best buy online. Installed it into my PC last week and works like a charm.
So in that thinking many of the games that are on both the 360 and the PS3 look better on the 360. So by your statement the PS3 is already showing its limitations. So the PS3 must not be a full generation machine as well. Of course this is not the case and it would have to do with the development of the game. The Jaguar and 3DO NEVER got to the point of the 360 or the PS3 in sales comparatively. So please pick up your case, because you rested to soon.
And I'll still wait for XBL to get fixed to paly online games. It's just a much more robust online games experience for me.
Please explain your comment on "half generation leap' because for a gaming system it seems pretty next gen to me with all the AAA games that have come out for it compared to the PS3(At least as we sit right now).
Many of you act as if Sony did everything right in its launch and business plan, but if it did they would not be sitting in a distant 3rd place. MS has its problem as well. Its just a shame this site can't be more level in its thinking.
Its becasue MS handled the issue the best why they could. Greedy would be not extending the warranty and taking a couple billion dollar lost on their service and supoort side of the business.
Granted they should have done alot more product testing before the 360 come out.

How can the PS3 win when it fails to leads sales in the US on a monthly basis?
Being that this is a US site for the most part the PS3 user base including me(Even though I play my 360 more) should be worried that the poor software sales and attached are horrible for the PS3. If it continues you MIGHT see 3rd software support fall to the wayside.

I got it on lanuch day. Just sold it a couple of months back. I was just not using it, so traded it in for credit to get raady for Rockband.
Gamestop by me has a trade in value at $35 for Halo 3, Pretty close to your 40.
that PS3 owners would be jumping at the chance to pick up a game that has been getting good reviews. I was thinking about maybe picking it up. but with Mass effect, Rockband, AC, Guitar Hero 3 the funds dried up. Maybe thats the problem to many other MUST have games came out a little before it.
off of Fasa and create a shadowrun MMO. I never played the RPG, but unlike others I did enjoy the 360 FPS. Could have used better graphics and more maps but the game play was solid.

Ok the comments about selling the PS3 for another 360 will not happen, becasue I still hold out hope that some good games will come out. I am thinking about again second addon HD-dvd player. Just kind of sick for the rampent flaming.

The game play was/is great. the graphics are a lacking but I can handle that if the game play is there. It definitely deserves a sequel. I was playing it the other day and had a blast. If they would have come out with more maps I would have been happy.
