This is incredible. $350??? This could be a revolution in our daily lives.

I agree with your observations. I think what needs to be understood is; You can sell 25 million consoles at $200 loss each in three years and you will have lost $5 BILLION. You must make a profit, unless you can make it up in game royalties. Anytime you bundle a game with the console, the following happens: 1. You make no money off royaties because you gave it away for free, and 2. You must compensate the developer for their efforts, in essence you have to in some way, "buy it from th...

add ****.. to those words

sorry about the typos. For some reason, the spell-checker would not add ...**** to the words spea****, and tal****. Please add then re-read post.

I've got a few comments on that. It never ceases to amaze me when people use words like "never, always, everybody, nobody...". It is the first dead giveaway that the person spea****, is spea**** personal opinion only. Example, if two weeks before the NFL Superbowl, someone were to have said "everybody knows New England is going to beat New York", you would instantly know what he really said was HE THOUGHT New England was going to win. Not everybody. Him, and maybe a b...

@Offical General "That Too human game - just another space-stype shooter, (the 360 already has Halo 3, Gears of War etc) it doesn't really catch my eye."
Too Human is another space type shooter???? Are you crazy? It is obvious that you are a PS3 fanatic, with now true knowledge of 360 games. Too Human is based on Nordic mythology, has nothing to do with outer space and aliens. Just thought I'd point that out, since it seems most of these posts are from people who do not ev...

@Cupid_Viper3 "imagine 20 to 40 million ps2 failing, Sony would be destroid. just like the toys from china, the backlash would be huge. so only the hardcore gamer can justify repeated failures"

Where have you been??? Or are you just that young?? That is EXACTLY what happened with the PS2 and PS1. That's one of the reasons so many were sold. Oh yeah, Sony denied any problems, so you had to buy a new one (they still lost lawsuit). Since that was before the days of...

If Sony starts "focusing on games" right now, you will not see any results until 2010 at the earliest. You guys seem to think that games can be designed and produced overnight. And do not forget, SONY does not produce that many games anyway. If not for Blu-Ray, the PS3 would be a dismal failure "right now". Wait for the sales figures for these "surefire monster hit" games being touted (MGS, LBP, GT, ect). When they resemble the sales numbers for last year's ...

is measured as a percentage of toal sales in the market, not the number of units sold. If 100 million consoles are sold, and company A sells 30 million, that equals 30 percent market share. MS's market share last gen was very low, single digits I think, this gen it is more than 33 percent (not using specific numbers, just explaining a point). So MS market share has increased greatly, and Sony's has fallen greatly.

for the GTA4 release, and probable US price cut, in my opinion. They want to have plenty available for the launch, and ample supply for Europe (recent price cut). A new design improving reliability is probably also incorporated in the works. At least, that would make logical sense to me. I wonder how long it will take for them to come online. Or have they already begun, and the news is just getting out? Sounds like a good plan to me. Maybe they will release units with larger harddrives...

PS3 owners may have a lot of movies to watch, but not a lot of really great games to play.

to those of you who wondered if you will be able to play ME2 with your Shepard, as he/she was at the end of ME1. As a matter of fact, if you replay ME with your saved Shepard, you begin at the exp level you had when you finished the game. Then as you play again, your experience just continues to grow/improve. (I think there is a limit, I read that somewhere, I just forgot to level you max out). So if you finished Mass Effect, play it again, max out Shepard, use the maxed Shepard in any ne...

That sounds a lot like what I just posted. But I had heard that Wistron had been identified as the source of the bulk of the defective consoles, and they ere fired. This makes the 33% rate sound feasible.

That MS's next console will be very reliable. MS has not gotten to be one of the most successful and richest companies in the world by repeating mistakes. I had heard a story from MS (here I go, quoting stories from the web) that went on to say that MS had three factories ma**** 360s. After the reports of so many failures, they traced it back to one of the three. They closed them down, which led to some shortages, but plugged the steady releasing of defective hardware. Add to that, the s...

They delayed the PS3 launch because the Blue lasers would not work, and the Blu-Ray disc failure rate was so high, it made them cost too much to manufacture in quantity. Even so, the discs still had a high failure rate when they did launch, hence the console's high price. However Sony could afford to wait, and MS could not. When the 360 was launched, the Blue lasers were still on the drawing board, HD-DVD was not finalized, and MS had to settle for DVD.

I thought this was a monster hit on the PS3.

I would be disappointed. When I get the PS3 (between now and the summer, I guess), I hope the game choices have improved. Since I am not into JRPGs, platformers, and cartoony juvenile games like Ratchet and Clank / Little Big Planet, my choices are limited right now. I'm not bashing those games, some people love them and hat shooters like Halo/Bioshock etc... To each his own. Just not my cup of tea. But I do want to try RFOM, and maybe Haze. We'll see either way, I always own both syst...

then just buy one. You will NEVER "know for a fact" that they are reliable. Millions and millions have been sold. The system has been redesigned and the failures have been reduced. Remember, there are loads of launch systems that have not broken. Reading reports and watching videos on the internet do not provide reliable numbers. The ones that do not fail are not reported, the ones that do are reported, and re-reported, and re-re-reported over and over again. Then there are t...
