Before trophies/achievements there was maybe 1 game I played twice (MGS4). Since then, I have played many games over again...just so I can get the trophies/achievement. How someone gets entertainment out of a game is not a concrete fact. To each his own.

I would have to say that the majority of hardcore gamers don't want to see a metro-sexual hero. I respect your sexuality, but you are by far a minority (main character taste-wise) when it comes to gamers.

All I can say is that the low 80's on metacritic does not represent what I played in Alan Wake. Maybe I am just "over-liking" it, but man is it awesome.

Video game developers want to appeal to the majority of gamers. The majority of gamers are white. Just like Nintendo wants to appeal to the majority of the casual gamers. The majority of casual gamers are kids and adults, which explains why you see so many non "hardcore" games.
I think that this, not racism, is the reason why you see the white protagonist the majority of the time.
