Maybe because Infinity Ward tried to pass it off as some thought-provoking philosophical argument on the basis of perspective in the world, when in fact it was nothing more than a pathetic grab for attention. Just another mindless shooting spree in a game full of mindless shooting spree.

It's the racing that matters, not the turns. Stock car racing has a very rich history in North America and it would be ignorant to discredit as a legitimate and interesting form of motorsport.
But NASCAR does have three problems. The first two are over-zealous regulation and corporate ass-kissery that is beginning to ruin the racing. Second is that the races are just too damn long. I don't have the time to watch a three and a half hour race, so just forget it.

I agree. Jim Sterling writes not from his honest opinion, but from his greed for hits and site traffic. Destructoid is the last place I would go to for any review or opinion. It literally is the tabloid of gaming.
Whether the game is truly good or bad, I don't know, but I do know that nobody should weigh a single word from Destructoid into their decision.
For the record, I disagree with thor and absolutely love the choice that standard cars give to the game, but he's correct about the features of standard cars. It has been confirmed MULTIPLE TIMES by Kaz and PD themselves that standard cars will not have cockpits. It's amazing how so-called "fans" of this game can miss such vital information.

I feel that in a racing game, a story only cheapens it. All I need personally to enjoy a racing game is an environment and a car. Anything else such as a story is superfluous, IMO. It's not why I'm driving that matters, but how and where.
Yeah, one is an open-world arcade racer and one is a simulation. The only similarity they have is that you drive virtual replications of cars.
NFS isn't "waging war" on GT5 at all, because they aren't even true competitors. Both cater to different crowds, for the most part.

I don't believe that he's a hoarder so much as he is a collector. If he was a hoarder, it probably wouldn't just be video games that he's collecting, and it's natural for a collector or aficionado to... not want to get rid of their collection (surprise!).

I was looking for a job and was highly considering Blockbuster as it looks like a really great and fun place to work (or at least the one near me)... Well damn it.
It is true that immersion plays a large role in the experience, but that's just a trade-off that has to be made, or as you said, prioritized. Immersion in PC sims comes from the physics itself, feeling the weight of the car going into the corner, each minute characteristic of the car's handling, etc. which is why I said that graphics aren't really important in a PC sim. The immersion is there, I think, just in a completely different way that *visual* immersion.

But yeah, it's a fact that a sim limited to consoles will never ever ever ever reach the level of the physics used in PC sims, but for what PD was given (a console), they've done a damn fine job with it. Nothing to complain about with GT5, certainly.
I believe that RuffRyder was talking about the physics, and if that is the case than that picture you showed proves nothing. It's a proven, objective fact that PC sims such as rFactor blow games such as GT and Forza out of the water. It's not even a competition. And as I said, that's not an opinion, that's a fact.

Because all of that processing power is being used on the physics engine, and less money and time is spent on the graphics because it just doesn't matter. Games like rFactor, iRacing, GTR2, etc. are all on the verge of equaling real-life physics-wise, so naturally on these super-hardcore PC racing sims, graphics are the LAST thing that matters, so I find it odd that you bring up that point.

There's lots of conflicting beliefs held by people here, but Ben is correct. Standard cars will in no way feature a cockpit view.
And honestly it's better than having generic cockpits. Better to not do it at all than do it in a half-assed manner that destroys the realism. PD made the right choice here.
