Get it together Microsoft! Their is NO excuse for their constant desire to improve their system (add-on HD-DVD, cameras, etc.), and yet drop the ball so totally. Agreed, component cables aren't clunky. The fact of the matter is that technology does a specific job, and while whiners want things simple and easy, getting the best has never been an easy job. Stop yr. bit--ing, and realize that MS has dropped the ball, and not the designers of the technology.

Codemasters really dropped the ball with 'Dirt'. While it looks beautiful, the game has a very forgiving gameplay style, compared with past Colin McRae rally games. It makes the game utterly boring and unrealistic to the point of arcade crap. Their core audience has always been people who love rally and the WRC, and ironically, that base has been dwindling, so instead of making it more realistic and more of the real sport (to keep the core gamers), the game is neither 'here nor there' in ter...

Agreed. Hardcore mode helps a bit, but it's ridculous that you have perk advantages against noobs and still get to have an even more unfair advantage by calling in Air Strikes, etc. to continually pitch the odds in one's favor. It's silly, and unsporting. Grenades too, are just ridiculous in their prevalance on every map... The core gameplay is being overshadowed by that junk. Most maps are way too small as well. Yeah, Ubisoft wants to shorten their maps up as well, which is equally stupid....

You will be the last HD-DVD viewer, clutching your player close, and shaking back and forth... and last to realize how utterly deluded your statements are. Sony has marketed the crap out of this format, and will win, because they WANT to win. Toshiba couldn't market themselves into a good relationship if they tried. Sony will win the war, even it means they suffer in exclusive titles and less 1st party development software. Moreover, they will win it BEFORE most mass consumers will even r...

Dear Lord, please let Hideo make the perfect game. And give him back the beard, the moustache makes him look like my Dad in the 80's.. blech.

Utterly laughable. "think"? Care to explain? Or just a hunch? I've been in the video and audio industry for 30 years. Come with game or go home. Back it or back off.

Sony has never allowed DVD-A playability on any of their Super Audio CD players, and they won't allow it for their Blu-Ray players. You are very well spoken, but not well informed. Read any video component review in any respectable magazine about video, and the consensus is clear. The money might be paid by or to Toshiba and the various research consortiums, and that's where each of these publishers and distributors' allegiances lie. It will change as the markets change. All core manufacture...

Exactly. Someone sees the facts of the last 10 years, and realizes where the next formats are going. Because of our posting and blogging world, news and people have a tendency to remark and critique all types of new tech without realizing the conversations are a bit too early to be discussed in the first place. If you are a video or audio buff, there's a good chance you are on the cutting edge. If yr not, just be quiet and listen. If one doesnt have background, but the guile to mouth off ab...

Gamers are not the necessarily the core audience that Blu Ray is focusing on. More and more consumers will want to have the ability to play games AND watch Hi Def video, and while DVD is the dominant format NOW, it wont be in 3-5 years. Moreover, once people see the price plummet to where DVD-rom levels are now. DVD's will be fairly obsolete, as multiple disc sets and other special editions and versions can be easily accomodated on ONE disc (5.1 sound/7.1 sound/dvd extras/audio-only layers ...

Actually, MOST consumers with money care. ALOT. The format wouldn't be blowing up a huge as it is without people spending scads of money on it. Discerning viewers who have the monitor to tell the difference are blown away by either format. To say it's all about the corporate conglomorates is near-sighted and narrow-minded. The quality increase for the money is a huge value. Period. Read any of the 50 magazines that cover video and it's their main focus in almost every issue, and this includ...

Get real! Who's marketing their product more? Sony. Who's being supported in the video stores more. Sony. Blu Ray has ALOT more hype and a more memorable format to the average joe consumer, and saying HD-Dvd is very confusing to the average consumer. HD DVD is all but dead. Period. As is DVD-A vs. the successful format SACD- Super Audio CD by Sony. Why? Marketing. marketing. marketing.

But what's even more pathetic is that Microsoft can't stop thinking of more and more insidious ways to push their products (thousands, if you sell the business products), like dividing up web products into more sub-products, and rereleasing updated crud they already beat the dead horse on anyways.. I really cannot hold more contempt for our government that they didnt step in and properly end the monopoly Microsoft posseses.

Hmm.. I live and breathe for MGS, but you really need to play MGS2 several times to understand everything... especially for 4... there are contradictions, but I still feel the story line is excellent. Naysayers still need to dig deeper into the codexes and other cut scenes to really understand, before they hate! Try online and do a search for Metal Gear Solid plot guides or other... VERY helpful...

Ghouls and Ghosts... typical. The Wii mote and their completely different interface has utterly CHANGED the way people can interact and play with games COMPLETELY. The game system is targeted to people that can afford the system, and will get FAR more people involved than great graphics and 'sweet hardware' will ever provide. If YOUR GRANDMA is staying up til 300am to play Madden 08, and she never had before, SHE IS MORE HARDCORE THAN YOU, Dorkus.

I dislike Nintendo and don't own a Wii, BUT to say they are not hardcore, is absolute joke. Whether it be Metroid, Mario or Pikmin, they are more hardcore than you will ever know. Just coming up with a completely new gaming interface/pad is reason enough to cement them into the pantheon of greatness. They come out with the Mii's and everyone imitates them, alongside totally new and interesting ways to play older games, Resident Evil for example or Medal of Honor. 12 year old brains like you...

I suppose you work in the industry as an analyst. Right. It's the first year of the system, and crapping on the many intellectual properties is just short-sighted and wrong. You cant read into the future, and given how poorly Xbox 360 is doing this winter, PS3 is doing much better, but albeit not as good as the Wii. Funny you dont poop all over the Wii, being a weak-sauce hater and all.. Poor guy.

Ah, not true. 'Longhorn' was the codeword for Windows Server 2008, and it was just changed to that weeks ago. I know- I sell it. Along with literally 1000 other MS products from Exchange Server 2007 to Forefront Security. Windows Vista ISNT bad, but one does need to buy Ultimate in order to get the best driver support out there currently. It may get better, but it's not good enough right now for a vast majority of consumers, and it's really expensive, but no, it doesnt suck- except when y...

You may want to look into making sure your bios can support ripping out Vista, and going with XP. Most companies like HP and Lenovo are providing specific bios discs to do just that. It's not as easy as you think, especially with a new computer with a new bios.

It's become common practice that 95% of all commercial companies are slow adopters of ANY Operating System, no matter how 'great' it may seem or claim. A great majority of my clients (huge VAR national reseller) do NOT want to move to Vista (now), but the reasoning is current support of existing programs for business use. The product just isn't up to snuff yet, and neither has ANY previous OS available in the first 2 years. I will say that there ARE quite a few companies ordering MS Office...
