Besides my gaming PC I have a PS3 with the Move and a NDS but I can't play any other game than Civilization 5 since I got it in October last year. I've bought so many games on Steam when they were on sale but haven't touched them yet because of Civilization. It's like playing chess - every game is so much different than the last and unpredictable.

First no card security codes were stolen because they were not stored on Sony servers, it's actually forbidden for internet shops to store them. Without them the credit card numbers are useless. Second even if there were a fraudulent transaction the bank would reimburse you.
They can downgrade their products as much as they want, nobody forces you to buy them just like nobody forces you to buy overpriced Microsoft accessories.
