I just wish they hadn't included the repeating message when it switches from day to night. A real pain.
Good luck with it :) It's tough but a great game.
I'm not even sure if that story about it being too hard for westerners is true. If you look back at the release dates the Jap SMB2 would have looked really basic, real first wave type game comapred to everything else being made at the time. It was most likely a wise decision to drive sales with a decent looking game.
It gets extremely difficult towards the end. It's probably the one NES game I would recommend using a ROM and save states. If you run out of lives on the last level boss it sends you spiralling back to the Zelda palace, not a pleasant trip back!
I have a vague recollection of it coming out on the Wii VC during one of their Japanese celebrations. Didn't stay up for more than a few weeks.
Achievements are a tough one to look at, I've never much bothered with them myself. But for some reason I always seem to take notice when they pop up on the screen despite them being useless.
About time they rebooted the SSX series :)
I missed it first time round, but going back to it and it's actually a lot of fun. Reminds me of Zelda 2 more than anything.
I'm trying to complete a full database of UK NES reviews and we are at roughly 60 so far. So please feel free to wander around NES-Bit and see what you think :)
As a representation of the sport its awful but I thought it was fun to play going back!
