I don't think the acting in Nier is terrible- it's serviceable, with some voices done better than others. Kaine and Weiss in particular have fantastic voice acting, and I didn't hear anything coming close to that quality throughout my 40 hours in DA:I. And that's not even touching the fantastic writing, translation included, or the story itself. Why can't we have original stories like that for once? Expressions of art that go beyond a generic roadmap featured in "How ...

That's the only thing you can come up with? "You've never written anything so you don't have the right to criticize other people's work!", is it?

I can have an opinion on the subject regardless. While I haven't written anything in my life, I still can see quality products for what they are. I can appreciate good ideas, concepts and execution- none which DA:I has.

It's not that bad of a game, but people treat it for something...

Yes, I did. Switching between bad attempts at comedy and a semi-serious tone back and forth every two or three events doesn't really make the script feel anything but inconsistent and all over the place. Characters, too, act as if they came straight out of a fanfiction instead of a high-budget game.

I guess that works for Bioware's fans, but not for me. Believable dialogue is one thing this game doesn't have. At all.

Try Nier, for example. Or Planescape: Torment. Or Xenogears. OR heck, even New Vegas.

Does anyone really think that forcing you to do mindless sidequests with a rather dislikeable bunch of party memebers before even advancing towards Bioware's new brand of generic "an ancient evil awakens" plot riddled with amateur writing and pathetic voicework can even be considered as "fantastic storytelling"?

Has the author never played a game with an actually decent story in his life?

Haha, don't kid yourself. Melee had like 8 fighters out of the entire roster that were viable for competitive, tournament-level play. In Sm4sh at the very least it seems most of the characters are realistically viable.

This "technique" was in Melee, though...

"You'll notice that the only RPGs much higher in quality in this aspect are where the main character and NPCs aren't based on a character creator"

Actually, BioWare already severely limits your options in character creation- you can't pick a body type other than default, all you can alter is skin color/scars/face. This also doesn't apply to NPCs, which are premade models. There's NO EXCUSE FOR THEM, their game's character creator isn't ev...

You think ugly character models, terrible low-budget animations, awful fanfic-tier writing, weak voice acting and casualized RPG elements make for a "good game"?

But it doesn't suck. It's its own particular brand of hack-n-slash, which is why some people dislike it- with it being slow and precise.

But I'd rather have MonHun's combat stay as it is than see the series transform into a modern-day, western-ish work with a "mash square to win and QTEs for cool animations" combat system.

It's fine as it is.

@DarkOcelet

Then you'd probably realize how much most of their games change with subsequent iterations.

Super Mario 64 is not the same as Mario Sunshine, which isn't the same as Galaxy nor is Galaxy anything like 3D World.

This applies with almost all of their franchises.

No console 3D Zelda game runs at 60fps. None. I doubt this will.

But oh, it will.

Obsidian triumphs Bioware in storyline execution by a whole mile. Bioware's writing often comes as unbelievable, cheap and awkward- Obsidian's expertise is avoiding exactly that.

Xenoblade Chronicles alone was way bigger than Skyrim, although since you ran many times faster than you do in Skyrim, the world may not feel exactly that way.

This game's world is five times what we got in the original Xenoblade Chronicles. So yeah, this will probably be way bigger than GTA5 and RDR, maybe even both worlds put together.

Anita didn't even good on the show, ridiculously avoiding some key questions and making a ridicule out of herself (for anyone who expected a serious discussion, at the very least), I don't see how that made the "future" brighter in any way.

I'm 28 and I still enjoy challenging games that actually require you to, you know, play the game.

Doesn't matter how old I get, I'll still play bullet hell games like there was no tomorrow.

C'mon, Bioware. Stop being so lazy.
