Arc System Works beat everyone to it. They made a 4player free-for-all game called Guilty Gear Isuka.
Then of course there is Smash Brothers and Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale.

I hear ya! There's no reason this couldn't have gone on the Vita.
As for the 3DS, it might take a little work, but its still doable, and they could put it on the e-shop.

Okay, I just read that Vita game cards have a maximum size of 8gb now and could potentially go higher.
Well, for reference the PC version client was 3GB+ when it first came out in July, but there have been a few major updates that added to that.

Two of the best-selling Vita games in Japan, Hatsune Miku Project Diva f and Persona 4 the Golden both sold around the 300,000 mark.
If around 500,000+ Vitas were sold in Japan, then the software conversion rate for those games are like, 1 in 2. That's kinda scary if you think about it. Like if you see someone on a train playing the Vita, there's a 50% chance he has 1 of those 2 games.

The producer for this game is not actually Keiji Inafune, but some other person (as you can see in the video) calling himself Keiji Shootingstar Inafune.
Something similar happened for the first Attotekina Mugen Souls.
