You say that, but the only way I can get 60fps on Bloodborne is with a cracked console.

Now comes the part where we throw our heads back an laugh. Ready?

Stop Neil Druckman your money.

It'd be nice if they updated their staff with better fucking writers. I'm still pissed over MWIII; what a fucking mistake.

It's...complicated. TL;DR Remedy wanted to bring over a handful of characters from Quantum Break, but Microsoft owns the IP, and *technically* all characters as depicted in the game originally.

You too, huh?

You don't get a second chance for a first impression. Honestly, I'm still waiting for a sequel to Halo 3.

I hope massive and Ubi can pull this game off, but I'm not holding my breath.

It could be women in Japan either don't want to be in the games industry or don't want to work for Nintendo. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

I really with there were more endings alongside the ones we got.

The campaign is FANTASTIC and better than most of what's gotten pumped out by Hollywood in the last several years, but I understand if you hit a barrier for entry. Rockstar is weirdly fixated on hard-scripted mission progression and realism in how their character models move and interact, and it muffles the FUN aspect of the gameplay.

Yep. Rockstar has this weird fixation on making controls as realistic as possible to the detriment of being, you know, FUN.

It's mentioned before, but CPU limitations in the 7th and 8th Gen consoles. There was a BIG push between '09 and 2011 for greater presentation to compensate for the devalued environmental interactability--somebody at EA/DICE figured ut people were more impressed by OOH BIG SHINY or something insipid like that. Then there came the MAD DASH for 4K resolution that started with Skorpio. Look fam, I like hi-res textures and ray tracing whatever as the next guy, but I will always take perfo...

It's from Neal Stephensen's '92 cyber-thriller Snow Crash. It was a hypothetical evolution of the Internet and the World Wide Web after the titular event crashed global computer-information systems.

I get where he's coming from, but we still call movies films even when they're shot digitally, so I don't think video game is going anywhere soon.

Writing, too. JRPG storytelling is more character-driven and intricately built. Lots of characters with individual arcs that overlap and interweave, the main plot tackles Eastern philosophic staples like life and the nature of existence, what is humanity and what is it's purpose, stuff like that.

It came from the same line of thought as FPS games being called Doom Clones. I *think* when Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest broke ground in the U.S. in '90 and '89 (respectively), they were called console RPGs, since they released on home consoles instead of PCs--geeks and nerds in the 90s were pretty blunt. Right around the Super Nintendo is when we started noticing the design and-or storytelling differences between Western-developed games and Japan-developed games.
