It looks great, GT's cars obviously look fantastic (arguably second to none!) but I've personally always been of the opinion that the environments need as much - if not more - care put in to making them. After all, you're not looking at your car when you're driving around, you're looking at the track!

I think that's why I find PGR4 so much fun to play, the level of detail in the environment makes you feel more "involved" in the action - glad to see Polyphony Digital h...

Just as a point of reference the 2-24 figure on the box for Call of Duty 4 is the maximum number of players available over System Link, not Xbox Live (which is 18 on Ground War).

Tbh I don't think they need to up the limit of friends but instead revamp the way the friends system works. At the moment you have three mini-blades in that section of Live; Messages, Friends, Players.

The Players tabs just shows you the latest 'x' amount of players you've had a game with and personally I've never used it. I have a lot of actual friends on my Friends List but on top of that I have quite a few people who were "cool" when I played with them so sent them...

Sorry if this sounds "flamey", it's not meant to be - it's just hard to convey context over teh intarwebs :)

Living in the UK I don't know what Black Friday is but over here there's a definite split of 1080i TVs (starting as low as £200/$400) and 1080p TVs starting at *approximately* £700/$1400 for a budget brand. There's a massive difference in price and with substantial regional differences in the economy over here as well what's affordable to one person i...

Do you not understand the way HD and interlacing works? Almost all 1080p televisions have de-interlacers that convert interlaced signals. If you send a 2x540 1080i signal to a 1080p TV it renders both frames on screen at once before refreshing and as such displays 1080 "proper" lines of resolution; just because those 1080 lines are sent in two halves it doesn't mean they can't be displayed simultaneously.

So no, you don't have to only compare 1080p players. Besides, t...

I don't get why people really bother comparing sales figures as the basic figures themselves mean very little.

Okay, in France the 360 has sold more - but it's been out two years. The PS3 has sold less but has been out 9 months so it's currently selling quicker. BUT... The Playstation has a far more massive userbase so in relative terms the PS3 is arguably selling fewer consoles per "Playstation gamer" whereas the 360 is selling far more consoles per "Xbox gamer&...

Do you live in Europe? You're quick to denounce anything but the PS3 over here but you have an illogically skewed perspective...

I have a lot of gaming friends, most of whom have been met through two different forums that are completely unrelated to gaming (so not biased to any console). Of all of the people I know in to gaming two of them have PS3s. By comparison my friends list on Xbox Live has 30+ people on it from the (non-gaming) forum I run plus innumerable "game-fri...

Seems like a fair and sensible list of winners, congratulations to all the devs involved! Must have been a close call between Halo 3 and COD4 for the multiplayer, they're both so much fun I end up struggling to pick which one to play...

The only thing that seems slightly "suspect" is the Halo 3's second category win? Don't get me wrong, I *love* Halo but the "Most addictive game fuelled by Dew" award? Mountain Dew were involved in the advertising campaign fo...

It's cool to see post-processing effects used properly. The second image (presumably the "original") looks pretty uninteresting, there's no character to it at all. The first image has a darker, creepier feel to it - being able to convey tones or moods visually is a neat trick and hopefully something we'll see more of in games. Light is something so key to the way we perceive a scene that as it's used more effectively things are going to start looking very nice indeed! I love driving...

Fingers crossed this includes a fix for slow wireless transfers; I use a 500gb NAS drive to store photographs on and I'm lucky if I get 300kbps transfer speeds if I connect to it on Vista. The same drive is much faster through wireless on XP and through USB (XP and Vista) it manages around 20mbps. Connecting the laptop to the NAS drive via USB kind of negates the point of having wireless NAS though...

Vista was pre-installed on this laptop when I bought it, I probably wouldn't ...

Hmm, sorry - I'd heard about it before release assumed so had pretty much everyone. Sorry though matey

It's just human nature to "take sides" and pointing out the negatives of something you don't own is a good way of helping cover your own insecurities for whatever reason.

I'm not saying that just applies to gaming though, sadly it's universal!

Bioshock gets my vote for biggest disappointment. I had been pretty excited by it prior to release and absolutely loved the demo but the full game felt very lacklustre.

A friend was good enough to lend me his copy and I played it through in a few days; it's undoubtedly a very well-made game, the sound, graphics and overall style are superb but the story and gameplay felt so, well - "boring". It started off really interesting, but then it descended in to "Go here,...

300 is fantastic in HD, we only have it running through a "nothing-special" 32" HDTV (1080i) and 5.1 set but it both looked and sounded amazing - the whole room was shaking at times.

I'd agree with Transformers for the overall sound though; there was an article on here a little while back that made the valid claim that arguably the most important thing about the aural quality of a disc is not it's bitrate but the quality and standard the audio is mastered in. Fro...

I'm surprised to hear a demo is coming so early, can't wait to play it though! From what I've read it sounds like it's going to be quite "free-form", in that you drive around the city doing events as you find them. Does anyone know for sure if that's the case?

If so it might be a little weird, I love Burnout but half the fun has been to try and "Perfect" one set of events before moving on to the next. If you simply mooch around doing stuff here and there it'...

Isn't this just business? There are so many examples of premium/normal business models in the world, that's just how things work.

I pay £25/$51 a month for my mobile phone contract, if I have any problems I get priority customer support over Pay-As-You-Go customers. I'm in a written contract to pay money with my provider for a service, so why shouldn't I receive priority support over someone who might pay £10/$20 every three months? It doesn't mean the PAYG customer h...
