I totally agree with king of piracy thing, cause everyone i know would love a ps3, but would rather go 360 or wii because of pirated games. Also take into account the price difference between them (PS3 +- R5500.00)(360+- R1999.00)(Wii+- R3000.00) then factor in how ridiculously expensive original copies of games are(MGS4 R749.00) and that PS3 multi-platform games are usually between R50-R100 more than the 360, don't even mention the exclusive games prices. RIDICULOUS!!

I am from SA and the number one reason for the current market share is
piracy.
Games in general are overlly expensive, so a modded console is the way to go.
Most of my buddies are dying for a PS3 but are waiting for a modchip, so they go the more affordable route (Xbox360 modded). Sad, Sad, Homies.
I went to a local CNA to get a PS3 & they the priced it @ R6599.00.
Yes that is expensive, but it isn't that much more than when the PS2 launched in South Africa about 7 years ago (PS2 - R3999.00) and this time we definately getting more for the rand.
I owned a 360, completed Gears of War & lost planet.
Had basically all good 360 released games and watch the machine choke on the graphics.
X360 is a crappy piece of tech and i can say so with first hand experience.
Admit to the lack of new games on the PS3 but atleast i can play the ones i have without wondering when the machine will have a stroke.
PS. The future is looking bright.
Metal Gear will eventually do a 360, we all know it.But it
will be the subsistance edition & it will come way later than this.
It will be a limited edition which will include choppy framerates & the 360 turning into a fireball.
So then The fellowship of the ring(Red ring of death)(Xbox 360 fanboys) will get a classic game & a reason to buy an *cough* Elite Xbox360.
If this is anything to go by, it just shows that all consoles that has had high sales during the first four months has failed, where as sony is slow out the gate & just gains more &more momentum. Here hoping they continue their trend.
Also wish Capcom would make a next gen Megaman game.

I consider myself a gamer not a fanboy and at the moment own a X360.
I've played all games released for the machine but only own 4.
And if you ever play the 360 you'll see that the games are good.
But yeah i think games have already reached its peak performance on 360 and it is showing.
360 has proven to be easy to develope for and PS3 has been proven to be a pain(eg.PS2) then why do they look so close in graphics at this point, so imagine in a years time.

It all boils down to price HD-DVD players are cheaper but Bluray player prices will drop and then it's game over.
Here's a theory, all blu-ray players are priced high so that playstation3 could get a foot in the door as a cheap Blu player 1st and then a games machine and after more and more PS3's are sold the price of stand alone's will come down more and more till they are the standard.
What is this one all about.
X gamers will play Halo and PS gamers will play Killzone.
They should put both games on both consoles and after the demo's and beta's are released we would see which one the gamers prefer regardless of which console they support.
But this isn't a perfect world.
They need to release another Gradius with nextgen graphics but stick to the old school gameplay style. I hate what Square Enix did to Silpheed.
Commenting on 14. Halo3 has to do well, thats microsoft trump card and they know after Halo3 there is nothing left for them. Lets face it Halo=Xbox .
And play like all other 360 games. Lacklustre!
I own a 360, my expectations are never met with the 360's games.
Look at Gear of War,it has a great story,excellent graphics(a bit dull though),good playability but no depth.Duck and shoot anybody.
Bluray was alway going to win this one.
Sony put much into this to loose a format war again.
What if it isn't a 5 but a Z + E + 3. Looks like Zone of Enders 3 to me.
