Clock speed is just a bad way of comparing processing power. Like vulcanproject stated, if the processor architecture was identical, then you can use this method to compare them, but comparing a 3GHz Pentium 4 processor from 8 years ago to a modern day i7 just because they run at the same clock speed would be ridiculous. Video games need not cutting edge graphics to be amazing, but when an already good game gets those as well then the game becomes exceptional.
Nevertheless, I'm sure you'll find plenty of people who'll prefer Valkyria Chronicles over FFXIII. Personally, I love them both, but I guess it serves the example of not requiring super visuals.

Completely agree with Valkyria Chronicles needing a PS3 sequel. More people need to play this game. I was so disappointed with how they handled the aftermath of this game. The anime sucked and VC2 was announced for the PSP. I guess that it doesn't matter if the game had fantastic reviews if it didn't make money. :(

Big Rigs video is just unbelievable. Looks like a game in alpha stages... and they released this to the public? The maps are "completed", but there are no boundaries, you can drive up a 90 degree wall, you go under the bridge when trying to go over, you drive right through the other big rig...

The game didn't look good, but it's cause we've gotten used to this gen's standards. Pop in a PS2 game one of these days and take a look at what we used to consider "awesome graphics"!
