This is getting WAY over played. Who in their right mind is playing AC Origins at 720p with a 980ti?!
This article is literally cherry picking the the most utterly absurd worst case scenario and pumping up the drama to get clicks.
Here's a more realistic look for gaming with a 1080ti@1080p which is a realistic cpu bound situation that could actually happen, including AC Origins (spoiler: undetectable):

hz is a unit of frequency which can be used in many situations but when talking specifically about a TV's display rate capability then 1hz=1fps, they are completely interchangable.

I understand the point you are trying to make but I think there is a lot you are missing.
The very best HDR UHD televisions on the market are only producing a fraction of the full spec. For instance, the very best tvs only covers 99% DCI P3 color gamut and about 90% of the DCI P3 color volume, let alone the full rec2020 gamut. The very best tvs also have issues with contrast. If there's nudity, the big retailers simply won't carry it in their stores. What's the point in making a game available for console if no one can roll down to walmart, target, etc to buy it. Obviously, that's not a problem on PC because almost nothing sells brick and mortar for pc anymore...

To be fair, the texture packs are intended for people playing at higher resolutions than 1920x1080. I don't really see the point of comparisons at this resolution... I do agree that many of the mods on nexus are absolutely excellent.

I don't know... looking at the end of the log for example, I would say the textures are higher quality. Shadows are definitely higher quality. I can see bump mapping has been added. The sapling has 3 tiers of branches vs 2 tiers on the Wii u. I would say it's running at a higher resolution too.

Everybody has a different criteria for what is 'best' and none of them are wrong, it's what makes you happy.
I will say, though, that if you are uncomfortable sitting at your computer for any length of time, then you may want to look into a better chair. It's a shame that you've spent a great deal of money on a souped up pc and don't use it because you are uncomfortable.

Cobra, I totally understand the test. I am saying the test is pointless. If you have to set up a scenario where you run your game at 720p with a 980ti before you can perceive an impact to performance, then it is a non issue.
