I think we've been spoiled with the number of games that innovated or tried something new. Nothing wrong with this one playing it safe, but I think people expecting a big jump in what a third person shooter is today will be disappointed. Otherwise, it's looks pretty fun.
Sounds like this game was made for you. It really did have that vibe.
You're spot on to an extent. Nintendo showed people and developers a third way, they just fell in to the Atari trap of failing to properly manage the software being released on the system. Some of the best games this gen have been on the Wii (same was true of the Gamecube) but they got lost in the ocean of shovelware.
Did you read it? It's about how, when Nintendo's back is to the wall, they always seem to reassert themselves and come back out on top. At the moment they're treading water. This article was written by a Nintendo fanboy as well.
"Good" written article?
I have no problems with opinions shining through in IGN or Gamespot. Making everything impartial would kill a lot of the character I'd like to see shine through more in coverage.
However, you're spot on in saying that we're not journalists. I deliberately avoided the word in the article because frankly, I don't think we've earned it. Brutal Gamer is unashamedly an enthusiast site and we love to have some fun with what we're doing,as evidenced by one writer'...
Maybe they'll pull a Mortal Kombat and disable the online pass temporarily?
It seems a little out there. But it's an interesting idea at least!
Alot of Demons' Souls' magic is in its PSN connectivity. But GOW is a good one. This list could've been twice as long I think...
This is opposite of what I was hoping for :/
Also, Heavy Rain. Can't believe we missed that one :/
Good article. I'm in the camp that felt 'done' after the first Portal. It's a lonely camp, because clearly the game is awesome. But it's good to see there are others out there who just couldn't get into the hype with the rest of the internet.
It looks like he MIGHT be trying to smile, but just can't make the jump.
It's good to see a good quality alternative to WOW (even if a lot of it is very similar), but it still hasn't pushed me to jump into MMOs. Maybe Bioware has the answer...
That guy on the money looks a little weird.
Jim2wheels: have you played the game? If not then you haven't a clue. You're more than welcome to disagree but to suggest impropriety is not cool. I'm not sure I'm as sold as Harry is on the game, but I haven't played it but even if I wind up not agreeing with his preview, I wouldn't question his integrity.
I think he's working off having read a bunch of reviews. I kind of agree that you have to play a game to know it yourself (and he may have done just that Avery), but it is an interesting point about how scores are weighted (giving preference to single over multiplayer, the strength of the story etc...)
@Kingpin There are two problems with that:
1, If games are reviewed directly against each other then there must be a standardised title against which each new release can be reviewed against. This is next to impossible as the various different genres (not to mention sub and hybrid genres) prevent a qualitative standard.
2, You said it yourself, " I believe". Each and every review is a subjective work. It's impossible to quantify value, fun or an...
Any idea if this can be played on a PSP?
It's not a US site and the Vita got a really good review there. You have to admit the expected numbers are low for all of the US.
