This article is catagorizing games taking place in the same world as a previous final fantasy game a sequel. Not a sequel as in Final Fantasy XIII.

You don't undestand. Halo is a bigger better selling franchise then mgs is. And its the truth if mgs4 went multiplatform it would sell alot more units then if it didn't.
Bladestar is a little off with his reasoning. Halo3 sold more then COD4 because its a better, more balanced, better produced game, but the marketing really did help.

ALOT of people started playing mgs with mgs3? I don't think so. Its the exact opposite. The most people started playing mgs for psx, fewer got into mgs2, and even fewest still got into mgs3.

Halo, if you want to believe it or not, is a bigger franchise then mgs is. Not saying its better or worse, or anything just bigger. More people bought halo1 then mgs2 on ps2 and so on.
MGS series is a very niche market, the game plot is very complex and deeply rooted in previous games that leave new commers often very confused.

I agree with Limpy. High development costs means fewer exclusives. When a developer starts making a game they will probably choose the platform that has the highest install base, that sells the most games.
Speaking on a worldwide scale MS still counts for the majority of software sales, so I would make the conjecture that 360 will continue to be the lead platform on most future upcoming cross platform games.

Your actually very wrong. I expect 360 to sell the most software because in the US, Xbox has 2x more then wii sold, and 3x more then ps3s. I believe the numbers are:
360: 8mil (~50%)
wii: 6mil (~30%)
PS3: 3mil (~20%)
So the software ratios is exactly what you would expect in the US. This shows that software sales for all three systems is roughly the same when compared to the amount of systems sold.
