I work with virtualisation technologies day to day and while the service is certainly ambitious to simply rule it out is very short sighted.
The main issues people have identified seem to be:
- Latency
- Bandwidth
- Performance of servers
- Dependency on their servers
- Video Compression
First latency, I live in London and If I ping my data center I get pings of anything between 10-25ms and most of the UK would be able to ping Lon...

I completely agree with your sentiment, my only concern would be Qore taking away content that is free now on the PSN and moving it to Qore only users.
I think the idea of offering beta's and exclusive behind the scene stuff is a great idea and the price really doesn't seem bad given what you are getting.

I would love to play this demo (not that I think it is a purchase for me) but due to the complete and utterly ridiculous lack of southpaw control options this is a none starter.
I am simply shocked this game doesn't have this mandatory (imo) control option....

You clearly have no appreciation of quality gaming that is beyond graphical quality, graphics are important but only when they enhance gameplay.
To simply turn your back on the entire last gen catalog because its not HD is to me a very narrow minded view.
I was under the impression they were doing 2 versions of the 4870, one with GDDR3 and one with GDDR5
I like AMD and believe they offer good value products, however it should be born in mind that previous generation of cards seem to perform significantly better in 3DMark then in real world situations.
But I do hope 'this time if different'.
I am looking at the lower end 4870 (GDDR3) as a possible upgrade for my aging x1900gt.
Lets hope for competitions sake AMD really do compete again.
While I am younger than this guy, I relate to everything he says.
I have moved more to console gaming in the last 6 months and my PC hasn't been updated for going on 2 years now, but I know as the console's age, my desire for the best graphics on offer will get the better of me and the coming of new FPS's and things like HL:EP3 and new RTS's which only work on PC will usher me down the upgrade route.. once the new GFX cards hit late this year I think that could be the catalyst.
I think MS would make a huge mistake to launch in 2010 for a number of reasons.
1. Install base, by end of 2010 PS3 and 360 will be huge and as a result what developer is really going to want to make decent games for a new console.
2. Leading on from 1 developers have a combined install base of ~17m 360's and 11m PS3, if MS launch alone and Sony wait 2 years, how much will MS have to shell out to 3rd party's given their limited 1st party houses? My guess would be a h...
Are you serious?? This is simply bad resource allocation on Konami's part. You think Amazon or Google has problems with too much traffic? You simply allocate the resources needed to support the estimated load its not rocket science!
Konami simply didn't plan properly (or didn't want to spend the money).

Thats terrible, well I spoke with a nice woman at tech support and she seemed to imply it would get a much more serious look at (why not first time?) so I can only hope they do a more extensive check before sending it back.

It might not be the best looking or the most innovative game to be coming out this year, but I think the core gameplay, excellent online play, custom soundtracks etc will make this a really great pickup and play PS3 game.

I had an XBOX for ~5 months before I began to see lots of graphical corruption with greens and reds all over the screen this eventually led to it failing to display any video at all (only sound).
I sent it back to MS who promptly (3 weeks!) returned it 'repaired' after 2/3 hours of playing COD4 exactally the same problem, cant say I was very happy...
Just send it off again...

This sounds fantastic, simply the number of different options is mind blowing.
With the sandbox experience I think this will be a MP game like no other with almost endless crazy things people will try and do.

The ping is the round time trip so that's their and back aka; server -> client, user hits button, client -> server, server registers button press.
I think anything up to 100-150ms is acceptable people like to talk about latency and in MP is it vital but I think a blind test would show how people can't really noticed anything much under 100
