........does she need to have sexuality? Is sexuality a primary requirement for game protagonists? Write off a lot of those games where the male leads lack sexuality?

Man, that's harsh. There are game sequels I haven't liked as much as the first, or even outright disliked, but never so much that I pretty much was hopeful/ready for a series to outright die because of it.

It's odd, but I agree. I *loved* the first one. I bought HFW on release day - a very, very rare thing for me to do. And while I enjoyed it, it didn't hit the same as the first one. It felt bigger, but lesser? And when they gave you puzzle rooms to figure out, but Aloy started talking to herself seconds later about the answer, I wanted to smack the game designer.

I still beat it, still enjoyed it. Looking forward to the expansion, and I'm hoping that captures so...

If you're playing it on a device without DLSS, it's gonna be rough. To get viable performance on my 3060ti, I had to drop resolution, use Performance or Ultra Performance, depending on resolution or RT bounces, and so on. Mainly it was a game of compromises to get it running around 60fps. It ran *abysmally* on default settings. Just check the reviews on that game, still mixed with a lot of performance complaints. It does support some basic non-DLSS based upscaling, but I have a feelin...

I mean, that's pretty much true across the board. Most of us don't have the self-restraint to hold on to our convictions (see: https://tinyurl.com/2hhgjmw... ). People don't buy things for all kinds of reasons, from game quality to company issues. Just because it isn't widespread or might not bring about change has nothing to do with individual action. Not sure if I'm misreading - sorry if I am - but it ...

Hilarious they see what the market wants, and instead of making more things like that, kills it and is trying to funnel people towards a worse prodcut because GaaS trash makes them more money. Why did they even remake the game and sell it for a buck in the first place then?! The version they're killing hasn't even been out a year.

Also, completely removing from Google Play, but renaming on Apple? Why removing on one and keeping on the other?

I don't know, I used to like him. But there was a point a while back where he felt overly critical in some places, and lax in others. And really felt like he railed hard against...I think it was the PS5 when it launched? Like, weirdly negative about stuff. I haven't checked him out in a while. Perhaps I'll poke my head over there again for a vid or two, see if (for my tastes, at least) he's become a bit more even keeled again.

Just for posterity, I would like to negate my previous statement. I think Nintendo really failed to explain what was truly done to this version of the game, and it appears to be far closer to a remake than a remaster. And with that newfound knowledge, the $40 price tag doesn't seem as egregious.

Doubly so, given Nintendo has priced basically res-bump emulated games at similar - or higher - pricing. I'm actually far more interested in picking this up now, and may do...

....I mean, was this a secret? They obviously don't want it to go through. I truly didn't think this needed to be said as some gasp inducing point of the finger lol.

Would you be OK with it if they did this when BotW released? Cuz that's kinda what this feels like.

It would be akin to Sony (et al) in the PS3 era raising their prices mid-generation to $70 for no reason. Things haven't improved, tech wise, to require more man-power. If Nintendo released a Switch 2 and this was $70 there as an enhanced version, no one would blink.

It is - even in the face of abundant profits at these massive companies - just the ...

FWIW, it's gonna be $130. When I saw it in the Direct, I assumed it would be $99.99 like FE: Engage CE was. It's gonna be $130, which is honestly more than I'm willing to pay for it. Include some kind of season pass, perhaps, but $130 for the few trinkets in there? No shade for those that do find it worthwhile, but I was at least personally put off by it.

Are you going to at $40? I think the entire trilogy on Wii was a $50 price point, and that put the WiiMote controls in each of the games, which took at least some effort. This price is simply absurd.

That was from the article yesterday, no longer true as of today. Amazon took their pre-order page down earlier (and it remains down), it had no price on BB earlier and is $69.99 now, and there is no pre-order button available on GameStop.

And the collector's edition of this one is going to be $130! It comes with a steelbook, an artbook, some pins, and a small metal poster...$60 for that? I was going to look into snagging a copy if I could, when I assumed it would be a $99.99 price point like the FE: Engage CE was. $130, no thanks.

I'm not saying it doesn't suck, but it's kinda funny how different perspectives can be (mine being a stingy dude who waits for deep sales on everything lol).

The big worry of the article is no pre-load and a long download time, so those who play on PC might have to wait 18+ hours before diving in, which means high likelihood for spoilers before they get a chance to play the game.

I manage to avoid spoilers for months or years in most cases. I ...

Not sure I get this. I mean, the AO in this game really is quite poor. We have plenty of examples of it done right, it doesn't require DF to tell you what your eyes can see, and them having said it doesn't invalidate the fact.

If you enjoy the way the game looks, no shame there. Enjoy it! But that doesn't change the fact that the game has some visual issues. Both can be true.

I think that seems excessive if I'm understanding that right. As in, if I want to comment on a story that is tagged PlayStation, I'd have to have my PSID verified on N4G?

I think if you want to have an optional way to prove you own specific systems, doing that is a sensible and viable addition for those that want to prove they own what they say they own. But I also think it would create problems with mistagged articles keeping people from commenting, or people inte...

How would they verify, by linking to your various usernames/tags for each platform? Perhaps they could let you have a photo spot for each console, and you could like take a pic with your username written in front of it in lieu of something like that, but it doesn't seem like a particularly easy solve. I own nearly every platform, so the barrier for verification would have to be pretty dang low for me to care to do it for each one of them.

Generally speaking, they have to prove the worth of online for it to be a viable trade-off. If you're a single player game, it shouldn't be required to play online. If they can show how online adds functionality or is somehow core to the game in some fashion even for single player, then they may be able to justify the trade-offs.

What trade-offs? Being able to play anywhere (laptop, Steam Deck, home with no internet), and to play anytime (if their servers go down, o...
