Such brilliant manipulation of expectations, left everone feeling phantom pain for something that wasnt even there to begin with. Shame people miss that meta level of things which is why fallout 4 will probably be goty for mainstream awards followed by witcher 3.

That only shows how you didnt understand or apreciate mgs2.

Never let down......jajaja review the mgs2 conundrum. You are a victim of your own expectations no wonder you feel phantom pain.

They are playing you... making you feel phantom pain.

Maybee the originals but the reboot is far below from anywhere near mgs. Also Mgs evolved a lot faster than thief ever did and if we argue story you love or hate mgs, you just dont care abput thief

Jajaja, MGS2 all over again. Shallow complainers vs overinterpreters. On topic the article makes an interesting point. There are no loose ends we know how everything ends. I sure would like to see how the kingdom of the flies unfolded though.

Remember that enemies will adapt to your tactics, for example after clearing a base or two by sniping, the enemy will deploy countersniper teams. Acording to one of the gameplay demos once you get spotted somewhere reinforcements come from nearby bases and the guards are more alert even if you leave and return.

Have you guys considered that they might have created the characters first and then acording to their personalities and backstorys decide their romantic preferences? I know its hard to imagine that they didnt decide every game making decision acording to the allmighty excel page of player representation statistics that you guys obviously examined closely while making your comments. Its easy to see certain romance decisions when you look at it like that, vivienne looks like she is all about po...

Youd need to run a multiple econometric regresion to actually measure lengthy codec calls effect on sales. In a simple view the largest codec calls were in mgs2 and mgs3 sold a lot less so it could be used as a counterexample however there were several other factors. Youd also have to consider that most codec calls were optional so that wouldnt have affected the buy dont buy decision.

Using legacy as a reason to keep them is an incomplete argument based on nostalgia it would ...

Regarding the article its true the game tapes makes the whole affair darker. Part of me understands that it is not only used to prop the villain but to accentuate the sense of loss that the phantom pain is trying to express which will include the loss of innocence and idealism of the characters. Skull face seeks to break people to make others like him why i dont know.

However the other part of me questions if it was really necesary.

I love how everyone inmedi...

I disagree, we really needed more explanation to the fall of big boss. The guy we met in mgs3 had nothing in common with the guy we met on the original mg and the explanation of mgs4 wasnt enough to explain the changes. What i see from gz and the trailers its precisely the events of the phantom pain that will transform him from hero to villain.

Codec calls wouldnt have added much to ground zeroes since it would have required the introducion of a varied support team to make it worth it. I guess they could have added otacon´s dad to the possible interactors but it would have worked against the idea that mother base was busy preparing for the inspection. It also solves one of the pet peeves of some players that the codec broke all sense urgency in the game as you could have long conversations in the middle of a firefight without c...

I dont know what your other reasons might be but all mgs games "break" the established canon to some point. From discarding previous revelations and established character fates to altering the whole nature of the series spanning conspiracy.

I think you are being a bit harsh on your score for graphics, sound and gameplay but otherwise i can agree with your assesment of the game.

Its really a game for those that wanted to play a next gen mgs without having to wait till the phantom pain is ready.

Let me see, you get spotted and you need to change your aproach? Clearing a landing site? Just feeling like going rambo?

Those are wothout considering varieties of stealth such as eliminating enemies discretely, bypassing them, making distractions.

As kenshin said you need a large fan base to pull this off. Only AAA games would be able to do it and be a financial sucess so it wont become an industry wide practice.

It also requires that you finish developing a large part of the game that normaly needs tweaks until the last minute. You need fully functional character actions and npc reactions, weapon physics and a lot other basic systems up and ready at least a year before the main game so as to avoid cannabalizing sales....

Anything is worth what you are willing to pay for it, think of a water bottle in the desert

Most people that buy it are not blind or suckers they simply value playing part of the game now more than the cost of doing so.

Theres natural uncertainty on the future anything may happen the world might end, new regulation, new obligations might prevent them from playing it. For example people will have children in the period before the full release and they might ...

I dont know why people are up in arms about this. Its the same thing as every other game, you want to play whats new its gonna come with a higher price than if you buy it later.

Some people are willing to pay because to them any experience available now is better than no experience for a year or more, regardless of the price.

Well the fact of the matter is shooting is more precise with mouse and keyboard but movement in general is better with a controller as it allows a 360 degree motion instead of it being limited to 8 directions. Without personalized macros a controller also requieres smaller motions to trigger different actions which gives it a slighter reaction advantage.

In the end it will come down to preference and your playstyle.
