"Homefront is already off to a good start thanks to record pre-order numbers for publisher THQ."
This is why preorder is a bad idea. The devs get money without a product being reviewed, and that's exactly how they want it.
If the SP campaign was going to be 5 hours long, drop the whole thing and focus solely on MP. Use some of that development time for content instead of graphics.
Dedicated servers. BFBC2 and BF3 both use an advanced physics engine that requires the host to be dedicated (for large amounts of players). Not only that, but bandwidth is definitely a concern for the developers. Should they take a chance and let the consoles have a 64 player option, only to have somebody host a server on minimal bandwidth (or while downloading)? Everybody playing on that server would instantly assume it is the developer's fault. Word of mouth spreads quickly.

You would of gotten $6 with this great new deal they are offering! LOL!
This is GameStop realizing that Steam and all other forms of digital download are kicking their ass. That, and their annoying / over the top friendly customer service they attack you with if you set foot into one of the stores.
I'm not going to disagree and say that it looks bad, but I wouldn't call it next generation, innovative, or amazing. Crysis 2 doesn't look to be the graphical benchmark for the gaming industry that the original Crysis was.
The good news is that it will most likely run a lot better on PC than the original, as hardware has had ample time to catch up.
I said, "Magicka... is going to sell better".
You said, "Dead Space 2 sold FAR fewer copies".
... So basically you said exactly what I had already said.
Don't get me wrong, I want to play this game. What I don't want to do is spend $60 on a game that will last me 1-2 sittings. I'll wait until Steam has it at 50% off.
First of all, Magicka (the $10 game) is going to sell better, because obviously it's 1/6th of the cost.
Secondly, developers will continue to charge $60 for a game that lasts 10 hours because people are willing to pay for better graphics and special effects. I have never understood why so many people want nothing but great graphics. I'm a firm believer in content.
BF3 has destructible environments. Crysis 2 doesn't. Both have great graphics.
BF3 wins, and other developers need to jump on the bandwagon.
