it's easy to upgrade and quite cheap as well... last time I looked 2.5" SATA 5200rpm 16mb cache was under $130 (or £75 real money) ;-)

or a better solution may be to get a 1TB external USB drive and keep all the personal data on there, using the core for system data.
totally, electronics can fail as does the software on it, it's impossible (or near impossible) to get something complex to not have minor issues, luckily i've never experienced something other that the odd network error where i've been playing online and the network has dropped (my ISP not PSN) leaving the packets not cleaned up, just logged in and out (CTRL+ALT+DEL if you will;-) ) hey presto it works.
the error reported may have done this, however there are a myriad of reason...
I've got the 40gb model and have had no issues at all, 3 of my friends have the release model and have no issues, one person has the latest 80gb model with no issues. I must admit it's one of the most reliable pieces of kit i've owned.
wtf are they on these people? really? Do they not realise that updates are not just fixing bugs that do exist in all software products no matter how hard and long you test, you will NEVER find everything, but also improve and add new features. It's an ever growing console with a vision not just for brilliant gaming experiences but also as a multimedia device.
p.s the updates do not take that long and their policy of releasing all updates in the latest update is brilliant and...
This mag is a non gaming mag, so personal opinion (of course its all opinions I get that) from them couldn't be that credible within the games community. And yes I read the article, adding to the hit count (me bad sorry), it wasn't a very good article, didn't have any depth nor realistic comment to it.. I wouldn't adhere too much into it.
Haze was a real lame game, storyline was weak as well as the game play.. good attempt at what could have been an interesting story, but it seemed rushed IMO.

I've watched a couple of the inGame trailers and this game not only looks brilliant but it's what it will do for the developer studios, boundaries being pushed forward and architectures being understood.
