Michel Koch from Dontnod said last week in twitter, that they're focusing on new IPs and other games. That's the reason. They got like 5-6 games in development.
I don't really care about what is a game of the year or not, they are based on opinions in the end. Just saying that I don't think everyone shares your views, if you remember how TLOU2 was review bombed. Perhaps the biggest review bombing in gaming history.

One of the best games from Sega era, I used to play it so much as a kid! I always loved this stage, because it was unexpected how you'll get through it and that made it also a bit scary. The music, gameplay, weapons were so cool in Gunstar Heroes and the coop mode was amazing!
Also excellent boss fights, like Seven Force on the underground train tracks. Damn that thing was tough to beat on the hardest difficulty. I replayed it few years ago and it still is so good.
