I visited Gamestop yesterday to look get Mass Effect even though I had played thru it multiple times. I hadn't owned it yet so I was looking for a new copy but had to settle with a pre-owned one,
Anyways, as I was looking over the new releases, I overheard the store rep talk about MW2 saying that it was 'the biggest game release of all time' and I just couln't help but laugh. Seriously, there are plenty of bigger and far better games than MW2.

The majority of Xbox 360 owners already have a HDD and like Dragon Age origins, its optimized to take advantage of the HDD if you choose to install it on there but it isn't a necessity like some you guys are beginning to preach. So you can play these games without the HDD but if you install it it runs phenomenally better as it should.
Th elevator rides in Mass Effect weren't that big of a deal. . if you are going to invest 30+ hours into a game anyways, whats so bad about a 1-2 minute loading phase?!?
Ridiculously long loading screens to me would be the Playstation version of XCOM UFO Defense going from the world map to the combat phase, a 3-5 minute loading period.... terrible.
I know they said the PS3 version has the upper hand but its just that the 'smoother frame rate' comment has me worried. Looks is one thing and functionality is another, I would rather have a smoother running game than a better looking one accompanied by frame rate dips. I wouldn't care if it looked like Star Wars KOTOR the XBox version , just as long as everything ran smoothly when the action got hectic.

Fewer glitches, better draw-distance, and a smoother frame rate are all more important than better textures for sure. LTC , the numerical score is just a guideline , its the actual words in the review that matters not the number assigned from 1 - 10. Have fun playing with your '0.5'!
I am of the opinion that I would rather have a smooth framerate over more polished graphical fidelity. Nothing is more frustrating than a framerate that bogs down when the action ramps up.
It appears that the art direction is very strong, exactly what I was hoping for.
From the other couple of reviews that I have seen the game scored well , then again never mind the score , mind the review itself. Its ridiculous to judge whether or not to get a game based on numerical score alone!

I think GTA 4's main disappointment was the transition from a truly open playground of a world involving forests, mountains, and desert with 3 cities in between to one city with 3 islands chock full of buildings and water. The rural parts of San Andreas is what made it so fun to me anyways.
Has everyone already forgotten about Red Dead Redemption?!??! I cannot wait for it to release next year.
Last gen's GUN was just an appetizer to the masters of open-world goodness with Grand Theft Horse!
Its nice to know it is finally going to be released, and obviously all of the comments above are not into city-building games... a city-building game besides SimCity count me in! Couple that with an MMO , pretty cool I just hope they got the execution down.

PC gaming never dies it just stagnates from time to time and then blows up again, its a natural process.
Every company is about the money, look at Nintendo with the Wii... $250 for a last-gen system with motion control and they are rolling in the dough , and talk about accessories, talk to Nintendo. Of course they had to do it after Sony stole their thunder two console generations in a row.
I can see that the release of the Core/Arcade models of a HDD-less 360 made it $100 cheaper than the other models and more affordable to consumers yet its too bad that they had to make the 20G...
A Two disc game is nothing to make a big deal about. I could understand if there were games coming out with 4-6 DVD's, now that amount happening consistently would warrant your comment. As is I just don't see the big deal.
They released the HDD-less Core/Arcade models ;, which was an extremely stupid move , the original Xbox had a HDD built-in and was a big advantage last-gen over the two other consoles for developers, I just do not understand why they would gimp themselves like that.
Even still all they have to do now is tell developers to make use of the HDD regardless and then put 'requires HDD' on the back of every game box, which would fly because most owners already have a HDD/
Its way too late to be considering a new format for games to use, requiring an additional purchase for an add-on which as we have seen in times' past simply doesn't work ,( *wink *wink SEGA).
Besides its not like two DVD's is anything to balk at and its not like every 360 game has had multiple discs either. Alas! another exaggerated, overblown article graces N4G.
Even if they did offer a blu-ray add-on I wouldn't even consider buying it it when I can get a stand-alo...
Of course all games are 'better on PC' , iff you would like to include the PC when talking about consoles and console titles, well Uncharted 2 doesn't really look all that special compared to what PC games are capable of nowadays. Its just stupid to include the PC platform when discussing consoles.
Anyways, Mass Effect 2 definitely 1st day buy.

Everyone has a great PC capable of running every 360 game that is released for PC as well. Many people have PC's yet because they may not have the money to invest in upgrading their computer or buy a new one or have to bother with looking at 'system requirements' all the time, they just get a console, which is mainly why console's thrive , pop-in and play , no need to be concerned with not having this or having this but not that in order to enjoy gaming.
