I'm more afraid its going to take the WW Z route. Basically water down a zombie movie to make it digestible for pg-13 audiences. I mean that movie is Pitt's highest grossing one, so studios might think that's what people want. The game dealt with mature themes (and even "taboo" in the DLC), so I think a studio would mistake that for a "Dad saves the day over and over" boiler movie. All spectacle, none of the soul.

So is the online functionality of this game similar to last years Need for Speed?
I'm drawn to the huge map like in Test Drive Unlimited, but it was frustrating, to say the least, dealing with server issues on racing games.

I honestly feel for developers. Its not like these people who are passionate about their industry WANT to put out broken games.
They are stuck between a rock and a hard place with release dates. If they release late, then they miss out on advertising budget, prime release dates, and bring the anger of fans for delaying it.
It they release on time and hope for the best then they bring something broken and buggy, and hope they can work on big patches for Day 1....
343 has been super up front about all the issues in the MCC. In fact every time you log in they give you the updates and patch summary on screen.
They have worked harder on correcting smaller issues than some of the other developers right now.
They do, but they have non negotiable release dates. Like yeah it could use another month to polish off all the bugs so it makes sense that it will be another month of patches to get it working properly.
They are already working on patches as the game ships, which is why they can release relatively large patches less than a week into the games life cycle.
I hope this game sells well. FIFA has sat on its lions share of the soccer game market and done jack all, except except work on their cash cow FUT.
Maybe with some healthy competition they can both push each other to make better games.
I mean...thats cool and all, but really? A battle toads game is a deciding factor on a console, not any of the AAA exclusives?

They went through a lot more than american studios in creating this game, and they will produce more high quality games in the future.
While it would be interesting, i think the retro-futuristic style (30s-50s in US) resonates harder and is more recognizable than some of the other places around the world at that time.
I mean hell, WW II and then rebuilding was going on in Europe, so it didnt have such a recognizable identity that could be discerned from a war that was pretty much on their doorstep.

I agree with the sentiment but the first things you listed are cosmetic features which are totally cool to be reasonably priced. Like they can't just give you Snoop Dog's voice without compensating him. It adds nothing but "flavor" to the core gameplay for these things, and I think its fine if you want to spend $2 on small things.
Now hiding an entire mode, (a fan favorite one at that) behind a $50 pay wall? Get out of town with that garbage.

Its just a overall meh game. Its a fun idea that could have been part of a bigger game, but by itself, it struggles. Lots of flashes of Left 4 Dead when playing.
When I was playing, it took me about 10 minutes to even find a game (since it tries to put you in a game based on class preference, certain roles took forever to load)
