The reward for a successful game is ALWAYS a large contingent of the fan base behaving like entitled children. It's sad.
Just ignore the meta babies. Not sure why the dev responded at all.
It's a strategem. Don't give this article ad rev.
I get the development efficiency part (most coders already use AI as a matter of convenience because it speeds up the boring grunt work) but using AI to drive monetization? Yuck.
Oooh this game would look awesome on an ultrawide.
To be fair it also cost less to develop than so-called AAA (and "AAAA"...lol) games. It is also a GaaS title so it will generate revenue that way. Any GaaS game that is sold for $70 is objectively a ripoff.
Anyways this game kicks ass. We'll have mechs soon!
They absolutely will wind up having to crunch. Happens at the end of almost every software project development cycle, especially with release date pressures. It's part of the job. Obviously they aren't in a crunch when they aren't in that late phase. But it's wishful thinking if they think they won't see that stress again. Druckmann himself seems to be aware of that.
All well and good until some jerk boots you for not using the loadout they want you to have.
The industry struggles are more due to spiking interest rates which have had a similar effect in office jobs across the economy. It literally costs more to run a company than it did before. The good news is things will stabilize after the adjustment. But it will cost more to grow. Polygon should stay in their lane. They don't understand economics and are just describing a correlation that is convenient for their narrative.
People are gonna whine about losing their meta. Always do.
Damn. Best month in a while IMO.
It's Nintendo. You know they likely will. Or the gimmick will be good but the hardware will be poorly made.
It's very reasonable and you can easily obtain the items just by playing a bit. There is almost no benefit to actually putting money into it. For now, anyway. I hope they keep it this way but I'm cynical.
This is industry wide. Why would you expect them to be immune?
LOL it's still a multi-billion dollar industry. Consolidation isn't a sign of any sort of end. A lot of this is a product of going from an era of irresponsibly low interest rates (i.e. cheap growth) to much higher interest rates in a short period. This is what happens across a lot of sectors. Buckle up, we're living in the start of an economics lesson.
The first two acts are crazy good. The third act needs some major narrative polish.
Money.
This right here. 4K in general is often a waste of horsepower. Most people don't sit close enough to discern 4K from 2K. I don't know why everyone insisted on going straight from 1080p to 4K other than feeling obligated to max out the TV.
Most gen defining games come out towards the last couple of years of each cycle. We aren't there yet.
It's a shame the game doesn't offer NINE difficulty levels. People just can't accept that they aren"t supposed to always win or that they aren't invincible gods at every difficulty. Dial back the mission level if you're getting smoked, people. If you play the high end of the difficulties it SHOULD be punishing. Don't ruin the game for those of us who want the challenge and unpredictability just because your ego can't bear to simply turn it down.
