Did we play the same game?

I had a lot of fun on Normal and even going through Hard now, because it's so addictive to get better and stay in the groove of the game. I barely get 30-60min a few days in the week, but when a game is this good, I made time (and lost a bit of sleep).

Play it for yourself, but it's technically top notch, simple gameplay with plenty of depth for those with hardcore DMC/Bayonetta skills.

Not sure if it...

Usually have kids that soak up 90% of 'free' time.
So gaming solo or together is a luxury.

Gaming in general accessible to everyone - agreed
Every single game catered to be accessible to everyone - disagree

We're seeing great progress in terms of accessibility options, and it's something we can mainly applause. There's no need to take away creative vision from all companies by demanding every game have ALL accessibility options available.

I couldn't enjoy Shadow but Rise is definitely up there - about as good as the 1st game overall. Felt like the ending was a bit weaker, so maybe 0.5 point lower. If you do give either one a shot - choose Rise. You won't regret it.

@Razzer though awards didn't specifically get created for TLOU2 to win, Zmorin18 makes a point that nowadays there are many more outlets handing out their GOTY than say 5 years ago. So winning 300 awards is impressive but winning 300 out 400 is less so than 90 out 100.

In any case, people should do some research: most of these are 1 or 2 guys running a site (or speaking in name of a site). Also, BAFTA are the ones that are making their awards are diverse as possible. I ...

The implication, other than what Golfcoachh mentioned below, is that game media are even more out of touch with actual gamers. I mean, remember 10 years ago when IGN and Gamespot's reviews were still generally taken seriously? Do you actually know of reviewers now that are looked up to? A game journalist used to be a sweaty nerd, but at least they'd know their stuff. Nowadays, journo's are pushing ideology instead of just reviewing games. So no, the opinion of 260 people who think...

Because it gives you a great feeling of accomplishment after possing a real challenge (unlike most new games that hold your hand and have higher difficulty just be bullet sponge enemies).

Obviously still my all time favourite game. Though Dark Souls came close to overtaking it. Like others have pointed out though, I agree that your first Final Fantasy game is usually the one you most fondly remember.

Seeing one of these at least once a week was overkill, but with all the pc outrage, it almost feels refreshing seeing this one pop up.

@Raul: Why does it need to come down to my insecurities? Projection? Have you looked at the state of the comments section. It's so one sided, it's insane.

The whole point of me speaking out, is the defenders (like yourself) can't stand any criticism. I don't care if I'm in the minority. I do care opinions being downplayed. Why is your opinion worth more? Heck, why should a games journalist opinion be worth more? It's not like the majority are compete...

@Captain - Yep, I've tried in multiple ways:
* friendly and explaining why I feel about some things
* stating my stance substantiated by facts and articles
* full on essays on why a negative opinion can be just as valid
To currently:
* just try to keep it concise and to the point.

In any of those, it's the same: saying TLOU2 is bad = massive downvotes, and the few that do reply try to play it smart and cool. But it's...

@Raul: oh, I tried that at first. I had semi essays with all my argumentation written down. But since doing that or just screaming: "TLOU2 bad!" basically gets the same response here: downvotes and not a lot who are willing to reply, I try to keep it concise nowadays. But sure: minority opinon, because that is such great argumentation. As long as you don't go with the flow, your opinion is automatically invalidated. So masses opinion = automatically correct.

@Redemption: Discussion about this game would have long subsided, if you weren't making comments like this. It's what puts wood on the fire. Basically, once again - like I've mentioned in many threads - it's this stance of those who liked the game, that they have to convince themselves (and others) that it IS the best, most flawless game ever. Why can't you accept some of us have valid criticism, after experiencing it start to finish.

I'm not saying everyone hated the game. Obviously half of the 20 million fan base of the original liked part 2, and ithat alone is more than sufficient to claim many GOTY awards, especially when one of its main competitors had one of the worst launches ever.

All in all (and not the least because of covid), there weren't that many great GOTY contenders this year. Also, since all the journo's gave it 10's of course they're gonna put it at the top of their...

Where do you get your facts from? 100 game journalists also don't equal half the player base. So 75 out 100 game journo's that obviously reviewed the game well, giving it GOTY doesn't say anything about the divisiveness of the story in TLOU2. Now I keep seeing everyone patting themselves on the back, how it was gods greatest gift. It wasn't, but if you want to slough through another 15-25 hours to do a replay, be my guest. Let's see how well ND's next game gets receive...

@Vermin

1. It's a bit extreme and it's never fun to see it happen to a game you like, but it's just the natural consequence of angering/disappointing people that had high hopes because of their passion for the first game

2. That's arguable: can you prove they didn't play the game. And getting dislikes isn't sending hate speech. If someone agrees with a video it's how people show they disagree or didn't like the content. I a...

@Lucas:

I know I'm entitled to an own opinion. The much needed balance is on places like here - I mean just check out all the dislikes, yet only one or 2 actually dare to say why they disagree with what I'm saying. Going by Facebook, yeah plenty of politically charged people that have top comments and invade every post, even if it's just a nice artwork. But here, it's just so one sided; you would think TLOU2 fans were trying to indoctrinate people in believi...

@Lucas:
* 6 year old? Great argumentation when you have to resort to personal attacks.
* Projection: I'm offering some much needed counterweight. Heck FFX and Dark Souls are some of my all time favourite games, but even I can see their weaknesses. How about everyone who likes the game admits it's not the 2nd coming of Christ! It did some amazing things in many areas, but its faults are so much more glaring than in 1st game (which was flawed in many ways, but succeed...

Exactly, but people don't do their research. They see another games journo praising TLOU2 and it's all good.
BTW you should check out his Doom Eternal platforming. It's almost as bad. And that's 3 years later...

Just because it did some extreme things to characters, things that one could even claim to be revolutionary in the gaming medium, it does not mean it's emotionally complex. It just means there enough there so people can try and use that as an argument. Well guess what: it isn't. Just because you and a million others are yelling: "look at how perfect this game is", doesn't make it so. There's facts and there are opinions. Stop trying to push your opinions on to us, wh...
