30% failure rate for three+ years for 360. Nobody actually believes the PS4 will post the same numbers, do they?

Microsoft can lie to their customers all they want. Nobody with a brain listens.

Went on a "ramp page," did they" Everyone saying the PS4 would have "no problems?"

Yeah, you're the type of genius we should be listening to.

Way to fill in the list with meaningless titles and vague things like "Xbox Live Arcade." Xbox 360 has Gears, Halo, Forza, Alan Wake, and if you're into JRPGs, Lost Odyssey. That's basically it. The exclusive lineup is a joke compared to the PS3.

edonus: Verified data? The only "verified" data I see is that if you're not into shooters, you probably don't care much about Xbox One exclusives, with one or two exceptions. But I suppose if you like the franchises on Xbox, then that's pretty much all you play, anyway. A "sane" person would probably note that the potential for PS4 exclusives to vastly outstrip that of the One's is obvious, because it has happened every single generation thus far; Sony o...

I am aware of the plan. To make money. And you just made my point:

Do you really think Microsoft changed their initial plan for the consumer? No, they did it because they saw they'd LOSE money by producing a product that consumers DIDN'T want. The question is whether or not people will remember that in the future.

Gamers of all types aren't happy with the way Microsoft was prepared to treat the customer. They fully intended to launch a system that had those policies intact, and they only backtracked when they were forced.

Microsoft showed their hand. They care nothing for the consumer, and many believe that will continue to be manifested in future Xbox One policies and mandates.

General benchmarks? After the first Halo, Xbox never set any benchmarks. Franchises like Uncharted set benchmarks.

Watering down a genre to the point where it doesn't even resemble role-playing anymore isn't "evolving." And I never said there wasn't ANY greatness in those games. I actually think FFXII was fantastic, just in a completely different way.

And that's the point. FFXII wasn't like any other FF before it, but it was still an RPG. It was still a defining title. That DID evolve. Since then, it has been nothing but a regression because Square Enix...

Too bad you've overlooked one critical fact: The rapid growth of the gaming industry.

There were only a tiny fraction of gamers in the world when FFVI was released, and even when all the PS1 FFs released, as compared to today.

It's the percentages that matter. Final Fantasy used to be a giant title and it also used to be widely revered. How's about you scratch together review scores for those games? Or are critics just too stupid to understand ...

I would like you to explain to me how the downright painful and even laughable writing of FFVI was superior to FFVII. "Believable dialogue?"

...you've GOT to be kidding me. It was written by the programmers in those days. LOL

It had nothing whatsoever to do with production values. FFVII is not beloved and widely considered to be the greatest in the franchise because of flashy things. That's entirely untrue. It's because character de...

What Final Fantasy is doing is not "evolving." Not all the fans are just blind fools who live in the past. They'd love great games that have "evolved;" in fact, all they're getting is a series that's moving farther and farther away from ROLE-PLAYING (which is what FF was supposed to be), for the purpose of catering to a crowd (the casual, twitch-gamer crowd), who doesn't even LIKE role-playing.

And above all else, Square Enix completely a...

If there are merely thousands of units to sell, it wouldn't matter if every human alive wanted one. Sales will still suck because there aren't enough systems.

It's not about demand being too high. It NEVER has been about that for PlayStation launches. It has been about supply being FAR too low.

Yes, that's the problem all PlayStations have had. And the point is that it's NOT a good problem.

The article doesn't make any conclusion at all.

And I'm sorry, I don't care what bells and whistles a video game system has, it has - and will always be - reliant upon GAMES to sell.

Check the purchased : returned defective ratios for the original Xbox, if you can find them. They were horrendous; even worse than the 360 at the start of the generation.

I worked at an EB for both the PS2 and Xbox launches and there was probably about the same number of returns for each during the first six months. The PS2 was going through that major issue where standing the machine vertical scratched discs. But after that was fixed, the PS2 was fine. Almost never saw o...

How about you?

And by the way, what percentage of those sales are worldwide?

Who wants to bet that the US sales (where Xbox is king) of CoD are WAY more on the side of Xbox than PlayStation?

dedicatedtogamers: You grandly missed the point, although I obviously didn't make it plain before. I'm not talking about overall sales. I'm not talking about launch sales. Want an example?

All the numbers make it plain that the VAST majority of avid CoD players are on Xbox. It's why there's timed DLC for the Xbox and why the new CoD will be first unveiled at TWO Xbox-oriented websites.

And it will not sell 10-12 million on each platform; for each CoD, the Xbox versions outsell the PlayStation versions by a 2:1 ratio. It's a given.

4050d ago 5 agree16 disagreeView comment

Doesn't matter. 2/3 of all CoD sales are for the Xbox platform, which translates to a monopoly for Microsoft.
