OW and Fortnite absolutely defined this gen, no doubt. I’d choose a successful indie game like Rocket League instead of Destiny though but Destiny is not a bad pick either. Also Half Life Alyx could be considered a generation defining game but it was maybe a bit ahead of its time. It showed what VR is capable of but VR didn’t really define this generation imo. However I totally expect VR to grow only bigger next gen.
You can’t win the disagree war with any top 3 list tbh. People have different tastes and quite unlikely that many would agree with all 3.
Imo only OW in your list was somewhat generation defining game. Others were old formula games that didn’t change anything. Overwatch was a huge cross platform success that merged FPS and MMORPG genres seamlessly together. Sure there was TF2 already last gen but that game didn’t really have any MMORPG elements even if it was a role based ...

Thanks for putting this up. Personally, I'm bit tired with this dick-sucking hype train. I mean all PS5 games look impressive, no doubt. But are we honestly fooling ourselves in thinking that the graphical step from late gen PS4 to PS5 is that significant!? It's not like we should settle for one or the other. I would like to have PS4 Elite controller for sure. But I can see that for big masses this cheap add-on is a better solution. Personally this doesn't solve my needs as two back buttons don't do it for me. Currently using Scuf Impact for Ps4 (4 extra triggers).
For FPS players the normal thing to do is to map two of the face buttons there (X, O, /\, [ ]). This makes it much easier to perform certain fast skills like jumping, crouching, reloading, or special abilities.

@nucky64: is that really overpriced? Depends on who you ask from. Overpriced to you? You are probably not the target customer then. Overpriced to competitive fps guy who invests hundreds or thousands of hours to fine-tune their game play? Hell no. Just check what is the market price of these special controllers. It is anything between around $130 - $200 at the moment.

Some of us are old enough to remember how things went. LA Noire was supposed to be a PS3 exclusive title. It went multi-platform and in return R* promised to deliver another PS3 exclusive title, Agent. It was supposed to be the next R* success story that would set the new bar for all future games.

For me the Black Ops installations have always been the high peaks in terms of PVP mode. Black ops 3 campaign was pretty bad though. Advanced Warfare's campaign was pretty good, one of the best ones - but PVP was bad!
What is highly doubtful? Overwatch chapter 2 (supposedly not "Overwatch 2") is now rumoured by multiple sources. Looks very likely tbh. Most likely it will be a big update to core game (current OW) and alongside that there will be a new PVE mode that will be behind a pay wall (expansion pack). I'm hyped!
"Wake up"? What do you mean? I for one am still enjoying Overwatch thoroughly. Have got amazing value for money so far. I'm more than ready to drop some money to access some new content.
This kind of statement is purely subjective and as correct/incorrect as calling any other game the best. Clearly the author thinks it is one of the best games of all time. You can freely disagree. Personally I have probably invested more hours to Overwatch than to any other game. So from "entertainment value for money" point of view it certainly is the best game for me. Then again on the other hand I normally consider the games that had a huge emotional impact to me the best ones......
