I agree with the sentiment; not everything needs to be 'high art' or even have a story, sometimes you just want to blow stuff up.
You make a good point; its a fine line between saying too much and not saying enough. I tend to steer towards brevity myself.
Yeah, that point may have been better expressed as "Graphics and sound aren't THAT important." When you talk about having the 'right look and sound' for a game, you are talking about aesthetics, which is a different thing. I've been playing since the Atari 2600, so yeah, graphics aren't very important to me.
Finally, common sense is not as common as we like to think it is. ;-)
The difference is that the Mario games have maintained a high level of quality over the years and have been successful in introducing new elements (3D in Mario Galaxy, multiplayer in New SMB Wii). The spin-offs (sports, Mario Kart, Smash Bros) have also been good. The problem, which I may address in a future video, is that Nintendo doesn't make anything ELSE.
I've never played any of the Phoenix Wright games, might have to check those out
Thanks for the comments, everyone.
I think it boils down to what kind of player you are. If you like to charge in guns blazing then regenerating health will probably suit you better. Limited health forces the player (well, this one, anyway) to employ a little more strategy. They're both fun, just different.
I don't play SSFIV but as a gamer, I think the way these guys are nickel-and-diming us sucks.
Thanks for the compliment! I also grew up with Pac-Man back in the day and remember watching the cartoon and seeing all the merchandise, it was pretty crazy back then.
Three releases? At this point, one has to wonder if someone inside EA is behind the leaks.
Pretty interesting, there isn't much written about the audio side of hardware these days.
